Mercy Medina Obituary

Mercy A. Medina, 76, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on February 11, 2011, after an extended illness. She was born in the San Luis Valley, Colorado and lived in Red Cliff, Pueblo, and Security before moving to Colorado Springs in 1956. To say Mercy was a homemaker does not begin to describe the wonderful, loving and supportive environment she created for her family. Mercy had a genuinely beautiful spirit and a huge heart. She always took the time to listen and show compassion. She had a ready smile, exuded incredible warmth towards others, and was extremely good-natured. Yet she was also spunky, sometimes feisty, humorous, and just plain fun! Being around Mercy you had no doubt how much she loved and cared about you. She had a very strong faith that permeated how she lived her life. She always put her family first and willingly made sacrifices to make things better for her family. Over the years she enjoyed a variety of activities including dancing, traveling, baking from scratch, bingo, listening to music, gardening, shopping, and dining out. But most of all she loved spending time with her family and creating a warm and welcoming home. She is survived by her spouse of 55 years, Morris Medina, her children Morris Jr. (& Mary) Medina, Myrna Massey (& John Manns), Myra Hesia (& Bill Clark), Mel (& Diane) Medina, and Melody Jameson (& Jim Stevens); her grandchildren Robin (& James) Dunlop, Allen Hesia, Adam Medina, Amber Massey, and Jordan and Zach Medina; her great-grandson Chase Fleming; siblings and many extended family members in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Mercy's physical presence will be sorely missed, but her beautiful spirit will live on in all of us until we are with her again. Rosary will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Swan-Law Cascade Chapel at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1830 S. Corona Ave, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Melody,

My thoughts and prayers are with you. May God bless you and your family.

If roses grow in Heaven, Lord
Please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother's arms
And tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
And when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek And hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day,
But there is an ache within my heart that will never go away. ~ Anonymous

Grandma, I miss you every day since you have been gone. Your presence has been so missed in my life, but I am comforted by the wonderful memories I have of the times we spent together while I was growing up, and it helps. I know that you are in a better place now, but I hope you know how much I wish you were still here. Until we meet again, I know you are watching over me. I love you.

Dearest Medina Family,
I am very sorry for your loss
(Aunt Mercy), but remember she is now
heaven's gain. I pray that you will find comfort and peace by cherishing all the special memories you shared
together. My memory of her was she had a mischievous smile and a great sense of humor. She was able to laugh at herself and not take herself so serious, making it easy and fun to be around her.
Restpectfully, Theresa Garcia

Mel, Diane, Zach, Jordan and the whole Medina family, please accept my very deepest condolences. It's such a loss to lose someone who has been such a beloved, influential part of your life for so many yours - it leaves a huge void. May your wonderful memories of the many years together help sustain you all during this sad time. She will live on now through your hearts and actions. May she rest in peace and be gratefully free of the bondages of physical life. You all are in my prayers and I'm so glad you have each other to help ease the grief. Love, Nancy Ashley
