Merle Adams Obituary


Merle E. Adams, 77, of Union City, died November 6, 2013, at Corry Manor. Born April 1, 1936, in North East, he was the son of the late Fenton and Mildred (Arnik) Adams and the husband of Luella (Proper) Adams.

Merle was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 plus years of service and worked at Rogers and GE Transportation as a welder. He was a member of the American Legion Post 237 and VFW. Merle enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, trap and skeet shooting, and talking with his good friend, Al Lasher.

In addition to his beloved wife, survivors include a son, Edward Adams, of Niceville, Fla.; step children, James Thieme Jr. and wife, Denise, of Union City, Misty Cooper and husband, Carl, of Cambridge Springs, Susan Lang and husband, John, of Union City, and Sirlin Nivers of Missouri; sisters, Wilma Skinner and Shirley Newton and husband, Paul, both of Union City; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steve Adams; daughter-in-law, Cait Adams; and a brother, Raymond Adams.

Family and friends will be received at Michael S. Pandolph Funeral Home, Union City, on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Orren Smith officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
