Nancy Ann Hodges Barthlow

Nancy Barthlow, 92, of Colorado Springs, Colorado died on September 8, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Her family will miss this smart, fun and kind woman.
She was born on May 6, 1930 to Dale and Nina Hodges in Detroit, Michigan.
Nancy loved to learn and shared that love and passion with her children and countless students. She was a dedicated English teacher for over thirty years, retiring from Wasson High School in 1989. She was a voracious reader and avid bridge player. She loved sports especially watching her children participate. She was a 1952 proud graduate of the University of Michigan. GO BLUE!!!
Nancy is survived by son Chip (Dena) Barthlow, daughters Karen (Mike) Tippins and Leslie (Barb) Barthlow: grandchildren Brandon CB (Shannel) Barthlow, Kristen (Charlie) Hurlbert, Kayte (Mike) Swain, and Katharine and Lindsay Tippins: and five great grandsons. She is also survived by her sister Mary Coddington.
A small family gathering was held with a celebration of life at Fargo's Pizza with never ending quarters in the player piano.
The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind.

My condolences to Mrs. Barthlow´s family. I had Mrs Barthlow
for English at Wasson. She was my favorite teacher for sure. She gave us weekly spelling tests, and for that, I thank her. One of her favorite little spelling tips was,"to remember how to spell dessert, Mrs. Barthlow always wants 2". She had such a great sense of humor. RIP Mrs. Barthlow.

Barthlow family, I am sorry for the loss of your mom. When I was a senior in 1976, I had your mom as my English teacher. She was one of the few teachers that I felt I had a connection with during my school years. She was kind, had a sense of humor, and I remember that smile she always had. I see that in the picture you have posted here. She made me a better student and I enjoyed her enthusiasm for teaching and trying to make us students better in our writing skills.

Mrs. Barthlow was an amazing educator and my favorite teacher at Wasson. Loved the way she brought humor and caring to her classroom. My condolences to her family.
