Pansy Shorland Obituary

Pansy Shorland, age 84, died on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Brookdale at Skyline. She was an Air Force Wife, a bookkeeper, and a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and woman of family and faith.

Pansy May Shorland was born on June 16, 1932 in Hebbardsville, Kentucky to the late Melrose and Mayme (Jennings) Hazelwood. She was raised in Hebbardsville and graduated from high school there in 1951. After graduation, she worked for a while and married Desmond Shorland. Desmond was in the Air Force, and they were stationed in Albany, Georgia; England; Austin, Texas; Laredo, Texas; and the United States Air Force Academy.

After moving to Tuscon, Arizona for a number of years, they returned to Colorado Springs in 1978. Pansy worked at Rawhide and Mountain America. In addition, she kept books for several doctors and utility companies. Pansy was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs and enjoyed travel, family, and frequent trips to Kentucky.

She is survived by her three sons, Michael (Patricia) Shorland of Brentwood, New Hampshire, Kevin (Chyrell) Shorland of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Timothy (Diane) Shorland of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Also surviving are her brother, Kenneth (Diane) Hazelwood of Nashville, Tennessee; and her sisters, Janice (Tom) Perry of Henderson, Kentucky and Millie (Robert) Reynolds of Dayton, Ohio. She has seven living grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service and burial will take place in Kentucky at a future date.
