Patricia "Lynn" (Peterson) Pattee passed away at her home that she loved dearly and helped design on April 30, 2021. Lynn was born in Evanston, Illinois on May 26, 1933. She was the older of two daughters and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Neil and Mary Ruth Peterson. Upon her high school graduation from Tudor Hall School, she entered Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. In her freshman year, Lynn was selected for the 24-member a cappella choir that, along with The Smith College Choir, gave concerts in several European countries, as well as Greece, Yugoslavia, and Turkey. She graduated in 1955 with a BA degree in Art/English, with a special interest in architecture and graphic design.
Lynn then joined her parents in Denver, Colorado and soon married her college sweetheart, Bruce Pattee. The couple subsequently moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where Bruce completed his medical education. In 1964, Lynn and Bruce moved to Colorado Springs where Bruce began his practice in Internal Medicine and the couple raised their four children Mark, Jim, Tom, and Anne. Lynn and Bruce were married for 61 years. Their four children all chose Colorado Springs as their permanent home, married and provided Lynn and Bruce with eight much beloved grandchildren.
Lynn was very active in volunteering in her community. In her early years, she was a member of The Junior League, the Medical Auxiliary Board, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board, and the Symphony Guild Association. She was also an enthusiastic member of the Members Volunteer Association (MVA) and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, and later served as the Program Chairman of the CS Debutante Ball. Since 1988, Lynn had been an active member of the Broadmoor Garden Club where she took on several leadership roles. Among multiple floral show awards, she also received the GCA Sandra Baylore Novice Flower Arrangement Award in 2002. In 2006, she was chosen to design all the national conference materials for the Garden Club of America's annual meeting, held in Denver. Lynn also served as a Deacon for First Presbyterian Church. She loved to sing and joyfully sang with Big Blue's alto section for twelve years.
In 1980, Lynn started her own design business as Designing Woman, creating logos, letterhead, brochures, and invitations for clients throughout Colorado Springs. She created several lines of note cards that were marketed at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, the Broadmoor Shops, Chinook Bookstore, and The Tattered Cover Bookstore in Denver.
In 2003, she renewed her passion for many forms of art. She loved combining oils with her handmade papers to create vibrant collages and oil paintings. Inspired by Lynn and Bruce's travels to Africa, Santa Fe and throughout Colorado, Lynn created hundreds of pieces of art enjoyed by many friends and family.
Lynn, Lynnie, Mom, Nana, Nani really loved being with her family and her grandchildren. She was a loving mother and a cool Nana/Nani. She always looked for the best in people, was hopeful, upbeat, a delight to be around and genuinely brought a smile to the faces and hearts of those in her presence.
