Paul Neal Obituary

Paul Douglas Neal, 61, passed away on July 28th, 2016 in Colorado Springs, CO. He is survived by his son, Tobias Neal, his sister, Debbie Berends, and his brother, George Neal Jr.

My dad was a complicated and passionate man. He fought with his inner demons as he spent his outward days loving and supporting those that knew him. He was a soldier that conducted himself honorably during the Vietnam war. During his travels, he found my mom and from their love, I was given life. His inner struggle would cause him to walk away from a family, but everyone that I have met that came in contact with him told me of his love for me and how kind and gracious he was to them. He would find love again and theirs would be a short-lived and passionate walk as she was called home way to early.

His demons called and yet he continued to laugh and love to the world outside. As the years passed, he found his final love. She would walk with him for many years until she too was called home.

He suffered many tragedies in his life; yet he continued to stand tall and love those that surrounded him. He was a simple man. He spent time building and creating things with his hands. He was a gifted artist and created beauty for others. His heart was of a passionate artist, a hero waiting to be called into action, a man of great physical strength, a man to walk the mountains with. There are a thousand stories from thousands of people that he met throughout life. They all speak of a man that battled within as he loved, honored, and openly cherished the people that touched his life. He never treated people like they were lower than himself. All were welcome. In the end, he was a flawed man that brought the world some light and left an echo of love. His was a truly lived life, and I was proud to call him dad.

I know I'm late getting here, but I've just learned of Paul's passing.
Paul Neal was one of the finest, most gentle men I've ever known. He had a sensitivity and honesty that is rare in a man. He was my best friend for a time and I loved him dearly.
Rest In Peace Hebe.

My deepest condolences to Paul's family. I will miss his stories and wonderful laugh. During the 45 plus years I have known Paul, I loved his fierce individualism and under all that his spirit. This past year I visited the Springs several times, the love Paul had for his "sis" Debbie warmed my heart. Even when Paul was not feeling well he could make me smile. Paul Neal you will be missed. Go rest high on that mountain.......
