Pete had the ability to be able to instantly be friends with anyone whether a clerk in a store or a person on the sidewalk. A quality rare in this day and age that just became more rare. Jim & Pat Kujala (Spokane, WA)

With you not here, Pete, it is night. Nothing to do but let the dark hold me, let my tears wash my face, let the strange beauty of surrender give up its mystery bit by bit like the sunset sky. I love you Pete Pachak.

We'll always love you

I am certainly a better person having met Pete so many years ago. After my sister, Kathy, introduced him he quickly became one of the family. Great friend, caring, loving and just down right good folk. Our family will miss him dearly and all the kids say "We love you Uncle Pete and we'll catch up with you on the other side." You were definitely one of a kind. Thank you for impacting my family so preciously. You are missed.

I had the pleasure of knowing Pete for 15 years, and the past 11 years he has been a part of my life and my heart. We spent our time fishing, hiking, camping, cutting fire wood, watering trees, skiing, traveling, and laughing.... He is my soul mate, my better half. I miss his smile, his laughter and those eyes. See you on the other side Pete!!! Your Punkin

Dear Pachak Family,
I was most saddened to hear of Pete's recent illness and his subsequent death. Know that many that you are not even aware of are sending you their heartfelt thoughts and prayers. It is said that the best gift that we can do is to remember Pete...especially in each of our own unique memories. This we will do! God Bless ALL of YOU during this most trying time.
Note: I've been acquainted with the Pachak family since I began school with Walt in 1956 in the 6th Grade at Corpus Christi School and on through St. Mary's High School in Colorado Springs.

My name is Robert Harberg and I am a good friend of Pete's brother Mark. Mark and I have shared many excellent hunting and fishing adventures together, but I only had one chance to share such an adventure with Pete. I was left with a lasting impression of Pete.
Late in October about 15-20 years ago we decided to do some late season bass fishing and camping at Pueblo Reservoir. We got a late start one afternoon and after motoring the boats to the west end of the lake we set up camp before it got dark. We were sitting around the campfire and I was wondering if I had brought enough warm clothes when a man wandered into the campsite wearing just a t-shirt. He was obviously very cold and shivering uncontrollably. We tried to warm him up by the campfire, but he continued to go downhill and was on the verge of hypothermia. It was too dangerous to try to motor back across the lake in the dark and so Pete offered the man his sleeping bag. Pete ended up staying up all night by the fire and taking him across the lake the next morning. I have never forgotten this simple act of kindness.

I was out of work and Pete hardly knew me. He gave me some work and a hand up. I'll always remember his kind heart.

Dear Aunt Bobsie, Jane, Mark, Val, and Dorothy: We are all so sad to hear of Pete's passing. Although we only had a few occasions to meet him, he made such a positive impression on all of us. He seemed to love life, and had a very gentle spirit. To all of the Pachak Family we extend our sincere condolences and love. May you all find peace in his loving spirit and zest for life. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Maryann, Lynda, Tom, and Joann (Sunny's children) and Joe Graziano

Hey Pete! Hard to believe its been 23 years since I met ya. You and I built a lot of stuff together. We fished Alaska and I laughed my butt off when you hooked that "Red"on the Kenai and fell in over your head. You never let go and played him until the end.You lived life the same way. What an amazingly beautiful person Pete was. I only had known him for the past eight months and feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have him touch my life and see how important he was to the lives of others. I know he meant the world to Dax for many years as a mentor and a friend.
God Bless his family and friends and may we honor him by carrying on his way of looking at life and live every day as if it were our last.

I am so sorry to hear of Pete's passing. He was indeed an accomplished landscaper. I worked with Pete well over 15 years ago and had lost touch with him. My condolences to his family and friends. Jeannine Cone

I will always hold many fond memories of Pete dear to my heart. We spent many hours floating around on Lake Pueblo (almost in his back yard) discussing everything from life's intricacies to pretty much nothing in general. Pete had an amazing and unique outlook on things. I always think of him every Christmas when I watch "A Christmas Story" as he was the one that introduced that movie to me and it has become a Christmas tradition to watch it. No doubt it will have a special meaning in the future. I'll sadly miss Pete. To all of Pete's family and friends, my deepest condolences.
