Ramona Martinez Obituary

Mona, 63, a resident of Colorado Springs, died peacefully, with her husband Ron by her side, July 25, 2015, in the home of which she was most proud.

She was born in Pueblo, Colorado and graduated from Manitou Springs High School. She went on to marry her life-long friend and sweetheart, Ron Martinez in Manitou Springs.

Mona was known for her long, beautiful dark hair, warm inviting eyes and kind voice. She was absolutely gorgeous and her beauty on the outside was equally matched with the beauty she had on the inside. She had the ability to make even the simplest of occasions unique by adding her special touches. She decorated for every holiday, all year long and took great pleasure in keeping her home immaculate.

She was incredibly generous and thoughtful, never forgetting anyone and always including everyone, making them feel special and loved. Mona made friends everywhere she went and never knew a stranger, befriending neighbors and everyone she encountered from the market to the credit union.

Although never having children of her own; Aunt Mona's prides and joy were nephews, Eric, Jeremy and Paul, and her great-nephew Jeremy A., whom she loved dearly. She wasn't content with just celebrating birthdays and Christmases, she celebrated and spoiled the boys for every holiday, all year long from Valentine's Day to Halloween. The cards she gave were always carefully selected, the candy never less than the most exquisite chocolates and the packages and ribbons would impress even the finest gift-wrappers!

Mona took pride in everything she did and was a gracious and grateful woman as well. She loved beautiful things from butterflies and tea cups to flowers and teddy bears. Mona had a special place in her heart for Elvis, Beanie Babies and her collection of dolls and vinyl.

More than anything in this world, Mona loved, appreciated and adored her doting husband Ron. She was his devoted wife, soul mate and best friend. The two have been inseparable most of their lives. They loved listening to music together, going for drives in the mountains or walks around the neighborhood and even the occasional jaunt to Cripple Creek where they'd let loose, have some dinner and laugh until they got home.

Mona will be missed dearly by many, but we take comfort in knowing she is without pain and carefully decorating a place for all her loved ones in Heaven for the time we shall all meet again.

Mona is survived by husband Ron Martinez, Sisters Lori Bohatch (Michael), Ann Rhodes(Wayne), nephews, Eric W. Rhodes (Colleen), Jeremy W. Ruggles (Vernona), Paul M. Bohatch, Great-Nephew Jeremy A. Ruggles, Nieces Sharon K. Ruggles, Dawn Petersma (Jeff) Jennifer Compton, Cousin Barbara Reed (Terry), Cousin Lou Lou (Jack), and Beloved Cousin Millie.

Funeral arrangements will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Cappadona Chapel. A Celebration of Life lunch and social will immediately follow. Location provided at the service.

Flowers or memorial contribution may be sent in c/o Cappadona Funeral Home 1020 E. Fillmore Street Colorado Springs, CO 80907

Remembering my Sister with her beautiful, long, strawberry blonde hair. It was a source of pride and she always got such nice complements.

Aunt Mona will always be remembered and I will always be grateful for the way she always took such good care of everyone. I have found that the older I get, the more particular I have become about the details in everything. I want everything "just so" and I honestly think that is an influence from Aunt Mona. I can't use plain or cheap napkins, flimsy paper plates and I've started protecting everything with Zip Loc bags! Mostly I am just trying to say that I'm very grateful for all she's done and the positive influence she was. I'm going to miss you Aunt. Thank you for always taking such pride in everything. I'll love you always and never forget you. Don't worry about Uncle Ronnie-he is loved by many and we will make sure he's loved and looked after. :)

I am saddened by the loss of Aunt Mona. She is one of the most giving people I've met. She always remembered me and my son Patrick and always made us feel included. I have always appreciated her giving nature and she certainly made me feel like family. You will be greatly missed Mona!
