Robert John "Bob" Luff Sr. obituary

Robert Luff Obituary

Bob went home to be with his Savior on Monday, February 25, 2013, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He died of complications following a lengthy illness. He was born in Queens, NY, February 3, 1934 to Charles and Mildred Luff. He married the love of his life, Judy Chellberg, on August 31, 1957 in Bristol, CT and moved to Colorado Springs in 1963. As a teenager, Bob realized and believed that the God of the universe died to save him from his sin, and he lived his life in awe of Christ's sacrifice. That belief drove him to a life of uncompromising integrity that brought glory to God. God used him to teach Bible studies, lead mission trips and youth groups. He was blessed with an incredible tenor voice that he used to glorify God including live radio and TV broadcasts. Bob served his country through the Air Force in Germany, Tripoli North Africa, Clear Alaska and numerous other stateside assignments. After 21 years, he retired with the rank of SMSGT as the NCOIC of the athletic department at the USAFA. He received his Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Colorado - Pueblo on August 1st, 1980. His second career included teaching and administration at Temple Baptist Church, Colorado Springs Christian Schools, Adelphi Business College and Denver Technical College. His hobbies included car repair, fishing and wood working, but his passion was to show the love of Christ to those around him, most recently, through the ministries of Northeast Bible Chapel for the last 32 years. Bob was one of seven children. Four preceded him in death, and he is survived by his brother Charlie and sister Audrey. He is also survived by his wife Judy of 55 years, children Becky, Bob Jr. and Beth, their spouses, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one on the way. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:00AM Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Northeast Bible Chapel, 1722 McArthur Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909, (719) 632-2350. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northeast Bible Chapel for the Spring Youth Mission Trip to Immanuel Mission.
