Robert "Bob" Malcolm

Stafford

August 27, 1931

November 23, 2021

Dr. Robert Malcolm Stafford, 90, passed away on November 23, 2021. Bob was known to so many in the community as a great husband, doctor, mentor, cyclist, climber, and friend, but he was best known as "Dad or Baboo" by his family who loved him to the moon and back.

Bob had a distinguished career as a medical doctor specializing in Internal Medicine. He came to Colorado Springs in 1961, where he served as a doctor in the Army. He soon opened his medical practice, Associates in Internal Medicine, where he made a difference in so many people's lives over his career spanning over four decades. Bob also served as the medical director of Namaste Alzheimer Center and Pikes Peak Hospice where he respectfully helped so many people during their late stages of life. He retired from his career in 2004.

Bob was an outdoor enthusiast his whole life. In 1970, Bob became the 52nd member of the AdAmAn Club and actively climbed through 2003. Bob also accomplished the feat of climbing all 54 of Colorado's 14ers, the volcanoes in Mexico, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and the base camp of Mt. Everest. Bob loved bicycling as much as climbing. He shared his love and respect for the outdoors with his kids and their families and numerous friends. He spent decades taking his family on climbing or bicycling trips throughout Colorado, the country, and even across the world. Bob was always happiest climbing in the mountains or pedaling his road bike.

Bob and his wife, Sue (deceased in 2017,) poured all their love into their family. Bob is survived by his children: Rob (and Nora) Stafford, Carolyn (and Mike) Boggs, Liz Stafford-Mitchell (and Bill Mitchell Jr.), Tim Stafford, and Phil (and Joyce) Stafford; his grandchildren: Valerie Brown, Robert (and Jess) Stafford, Alli (and Brett) Weum, Chloe (and Corey) Woods, Garhett (and Cassie) Stafford, Philip Stafford, Ben Boggs, Levi Stafford, Sarah Stafford, Letti Stafford, and Nate Stafford; and his great-grandson: Nash Stafford.

There will be a Celebration of Life on December 19th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at The Colorado Springs Marriott, 5880 Tech Center Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80919.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Bob's name to the AdAmAn Club, or a local Hospice or Alzheimer's organization of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

As the "Best Dad Ever" and wonderful family man, doctor, and friend, Bob will be missed dearly by those who loved him.

I knew Bob as a fellow doctor here in the late twentieth century. Practicing with Bruce Pattee and Ray Wahl many of us at Penrose Hospital thought they were the best internests in Colorado Springs. It was a great privilege to have known him. May he rest in peace

Dear Family

Your Dad was the most kindest, caring and gentle soul I know. I really enjoyed being his CareGiver when I worked at MorningStar. He was always happy and NEVER complained about anything. When they would have Happy Hour I would always make sure he got a beer! His smile was so sweet and I knew he appreciated that. My thoughts and prayers are with the family! He will be greatly missed and he done so many different things in his life and accomplished them with success! Take Care! You had a great Dad!

I experienced the most memorable month of my life with Bob and Phil as we cycled from the West Coast back to Colorado Springs! What a delightful pair to travel with. As I've thought of Bob these many days, I keep replaying him belting out "Delta Dawn" with enthusiasm. In this instance, having a song stuck in my head is a wonderful! Staff was, and will remain, perhaps the most influential person in my life. Thanks, Rob, Sis, Liz, Phil and Tim for sharing him with me!
Love you all,
Koz

Bob was one of the nicest, most friendly, and kind doctors in the Springs. I remember him from Penrose, his biking (my husband, Morgan, would occasionally pick him up on his bike if it was raining)
and lastly at the library. He loved that job also. You all were lucky to have such a great Dad. He lived a good long life.
