Rory lived around the corner from me from 7th grade through high school. We stood at the same bus stop for years. I must admit that I had a secret crush on him during all of seventh grade. It was really fun revealing this to Rory at our 40th high school reunion. We had a good long laugh about it. I'm so glad I got to see him once more. You'll be missed, Rory.

I didn't really get to know Rory until the last half of our senior year at Gateway High; shortly after that, my family moved away from Pittsburgh, but in the short time I knew him, I really appreciated his sweetness and genuinely friendly personality. After I moved, I received a letter from him asking if I was doing okay in a new school and wishing me well. This incredible act of human kindness has stayed with me through the years and brought a smile to my face. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing - Robin (Zucco) Moore

Wow! Thank you all for your beautiful posts about Dad. They are so incredibly comforting to our family. Dad was simply the best. We were lucky enough to have him as our father and hero. The luck is with the Irish as we definitely won the Dad Lottery. Dad always treated people (including us) as he would want to be treated; with kindness, honesty, and fairness. He loved to have fun and be with his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Most of all Dad loved our mom. He married and spent 37 happy years with his soul mate. He taught us how to love with everything you have. Now he is loving us from somewhere else and we look forward to seeing him again one day. We love you Dad!

Rory had such a genuinely sweet personality, a part of him stayed in your heart forever. I knew him since childhood and he was always the same. Our 40th high school reunion was made particularly enjoyable for me by the long conversation I had with Rory and Mary, catching up on all the events of the past years. Peace, Rory, and may angels sing you to your rest.

A great man. That's the best way I can think of describing Rory. What a wonderful person. I was very lucky for having the opportunity to work with Rory for many years at Disneyland. He was always fair, and treated everyone equally. The one moment that I'll always remember is when I went to a Beach Boys concert and found Rory was sitting right next to me. All night he kept yelling for them to play Barbara Ann....and when they finally did he was belting out those lyrics!
Rory was a pleasure to be around at work and outside of work. My heart goes out to his family. We'll all miss you Rory.

It’s hard to know where to begin here…. So… I guess I’ll just jump right to the heart of the matter…. I greatly admired and respected Rory for the hardworking and devoted family man he was; I truly appreciated the camaraderie and generosity he showed me as a frequent guest in his warm, inviting home; and I was constantly heartened at how he was always quick with a wide smile, a loud laugh, and a kind word (or a good-humored zing – even when it was at my expense!).
He was a good man…. He was a good man, and he will be dearly missed by so very many.
To his wonderfully sweet wife, Mary, I offer my sincerest, humblest condolences. To his children – Jennifer, Maura, Rory Jr., and Daniel – I know he loved you more than can be measured.
If there is anything I can do for any of you, please let me know.
With love,
Lontih

Mary and Kids,
I worked with Rory @ the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation in 1994. He was a wonderful boss --- fair, honest, frank, fun --- simply wonderful. When he came on board in September 2004, right off the bat he listened and we worked great together. He gave me the 2nd chance I so much needed at that time in my life. It was an honor to work with him. I still have a photo of him and I on my desk when we celebrated my birthday in April 1995. He was giving, kind, understanding, always willing to listen. Many, many folks he touched will miss him. I know that the Lord will get you through your difficult loss. GOD BLESS.

I got to know Rory when he became my Boss as Manager of New Orleans Square. He was the best Boss I had in 36 years as a Disneyland Cast Member. Approachable, kind, fair, a true gentleman. He was a real pleasure to work for and respected throughout the Park. My heart goes out to his family...you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. O'Leary was a great human being and an even better father and friend. Our childhoods and adolescent years were a precious time for all of us and Mr. O'Leary made all of ours that much better. I have so many memories of Mr. O'Leary just being one the guys and hanging out with us talking sports and life. He will be missed but never forgotten. God bless you Mr. O'Leary.

Although Rory and I never worked together, we were Disneyland newbies at the same time and that's a kinship you don't forget. He was a professional partner in every way. Aching with the family over this loss.

I absolutely adored Rory. What a great person. I worked for him at Disneyland many years ago, and still think of him fondly. My heart and prayers go out to family members and friends who were blessed to be close to him through the years. He will be missed the most by you. But all who knew him, if only for a season, know the world has lost one of the best, even as the angels welcome him into his eternal home. There, someday, he will be reunited with you all.

Mr. O'Leary was the perfect Disney Cast Member to us back when we were a bunch of teenaged kids who would hang out at Disneyland a lot. I never forgot that, and never forgot him, 20 years later.
Thank you, Mr. O'Leary!

Mr. O'Leary was a wonderful human being who I was blessed to have known. Having grown up near the O'Leary's, I saw first hand the love and support he showered his family with for so many years. And his friends were no different, feeling just as much a part of his family as his own. I'll never forget his laugh or the way we used to go back and forth about the Steelers, he of course supporting them through and through. He will truly be missed by all who were fortunate enough to spend time with him and my heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to the entire O'Leary family during this difficult time.

Though I feel far away, I would like all of you to know that you are in my prayers and precious memories. Rory was a mentor of mine who gave me so many great examples of how to live my life and to be a leader. He was firm, honest but kind. I will always remember his laugh. May God hold you up at this time and always.
