Sandra Proffitt Obituary

Sandra L. Proffitt, 65, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 11, 2007 in Denver, Colorado. On November 22, 1941 Sandra was born to Russell and Lucy Bell (Busby) Coleman in Powellton, West Virginia. She was an accountant for Focus on the Family for 15 years in California and Colorado Springs. Sandra ran day care and coached for Light and Life Schools in Duarte, California, she also was "Grandma, Fantastic Fan" at Liberty High School and her photo can be found in the practice gym. On November 22, 1959 Sandra married her husband of 47 years Melvin F. Proffitt in Monrovia, California. Out of this union came four wonderful children: Jennifer (husband Robert) Vaughan, Lisa Martz, Tim Proffitt, daughter-in-law Becky Panaccione, adopted in her heart (daughter) Stacy Schamehorn, and Penny (husband Brad) Mazzocco; sixteen grandchildren: Janelle, Nathan, Christen, Bethany, Holly, Heather, Candyce, Robert, Brandon, Christina, Brittni, Mindi, Katie, Kassie, Joe-Bear; three great-grandchildren: baby girl Leonard, Gavin Knight and baby boy Knight; one brother Micky Coleman, her best friend Sandra Sue, and a host of nieces, nephews, honorary family members and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Springs Community Church, 7290 Lexington Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918. Sandra's family and friends were her life; she will be missed by all who knew her.
