Sophie Elizabeth Williams Blanton peacefully passed away in her sleep on March 7, 2017. She was born August 6, 1930 to her parents, the late Daniel Wright Williams and Beatrice Caroline Graham Williams. She lived and grew into beautiful adulthood in the Pleasant View community of Horry County, SC. She has lived in Cary for more than 40 years.
Sophie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Weldon Leo Blanton; daughter, Pamela Susan Blanton Catoe and husband, Jimmy; son, Steven Wright Blanton and wife, Dianne; granddaughter, Elizabeth Caroline Cordell Stamps and husband, Todd; grandson, Jon Patrick Blanton; and great granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth Stamps.
She is also survived by her brother, Roger Williams; sister, Lois Williams Pike; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur Williams and Jack Williams; and sisters, Alice Williams McKenzie, Flora Ann Williams Barber and Mary Kate Williams Hughes.
