Stephen Randall Cox, born October 25, 1961 in Syracuse, NY to William Jerrold and Valda Ligita (Birznieks) Cox, passed away on April 14, 2026 surrounded by his wife, Blanca, and family in Colorado Springs.
Stephen joined the military after high school at Fort Carson and fell in love with Colorado, living there the remainder of his life. He worked in concrete for Colorado Flatworks, Inc. and met his wife through friends at work. He will be remembered by everyone who knew him as a kind and gentle soul.
He is survived by his wife, Blanca, brother Christopher L. Cox of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, brother Theodore D. Cox (Katherine) of Damariscotta, Maine, Uncle Andres Birznieks and his partner, Doris Cannon of Arnold, Maryland as well as two cousins, two nephews, and their spouses and children.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the National Park Foundation.
