I worked with your mom when she was a nurse at Aspen Living Center and Life Care Center both in Colorado Springs. I have two vivid memories of her. One was that she would come on that last shift and put her lipstick on and check her face as she used to call it. She said that she felt that she needed to look professional to be an example to the CNA`s and also to make residents happy. You know she would not even do a report until she had made herself presentable. I also remember that she wanted to take her camper truck into the mountains whenever she had time and do her artwork. We often talked about the places that we would want to go. And I guess I do have a third memory. When Life Care was just opening up your mom was an evening nurse when we were to have a huge snowstorm. So thinking that perhaps there might be some staff who could not get through the next morning some of us stayed overnight. I got constipation a little bit and came out in my nursing home gown, walked down the hall, and asked your mom what I could take because I was so constipated. She fixed me up something special and I wish that I knew what her recipe was because it worked so darn efficient . Just fun things that make me laugh whenever I think of Susan. I just found this obituary and I still wanted to share even though it´s been a while. Rest with peace my friend.

What a beautiful picture of Sue. She was truly a lovely person. When Andrea and Dave found each other, Dave brought Sue into our family. She fit right in. Our grandchildren adopted her as their own Mimi Sue. The holidays won´t be the same without her. Mike and I had fun taking her to Cripple Creek and teaching her to play the slots. We had some fun camping trips, some with the whole family, some with just the "big kids." She so loved the mountains and just being out side. Mike will miss her annual gift of fire water. Her legacy, however, is raising one of the finest men I know, her son David. All by herself she took on the job of gaising a teenaged boy. An amazing job she did. I will miss her.

I miss you, Mom. I keep picking up the phone to call you, then remembering you can't answer anymore. I hope you are at peace and together with Dad once again.
