Tommy Renck Obituary

Tommy Ronald Renck, age 83, passed away on April 12, 2013 of cancer. He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on March 25, 1930 to Robert Rae Renck and Maude Mae Stringham. He married Sarah Gay Coleman on July 16, 1952 in Boulder, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George temple. Tommy was raised in Colorado Springs, graduating from Colorado Springs High School. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After discharge, he went to work for Mountain Bell in Colorado Springs, transferring to St. George in 1979. He retired from the phone company after 30+ years. He then worked for the city of Santa Clara, first in the Parks Department, later as a crossing guard, which he loved. He also retired from the Navy Reserves after 29 years of service. Tommy loved anything outdoors, hiking, cutting wood, rock hunting, and yard work. He especially loved his birds and made his yard a haven for them. He is survived by his wife, Gay, of Santa Clara; his son, Paul Renck (Beth Hanson), of Platteville, CO; his daughter, Beck Nicholls (Scott), of Woods Cross, UT; His grandchildren: Sarah (Stuart) Reeder, Seth Hanson-Renck, Christopher (Courtney) Hanson-Renck, Coleman Nicholls, Leah Nicholls, Cannon Nicholls and great-grandchildren: Lucas and Cash Hanson-Renck, Hannah Reeder; two sisters: Roberta Schneider and Beverly Spencer of Colorado Springs, CO; two brothers: Paul of Pueblo, CO and Leslie of Colorado Springs, CO. Preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers, and 1 sister. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2013 @ 11am in the Santa Clara 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 1750 Desert Dawn Dr. Santa Clara, UT. Friends may call one hour prior at the church. Interment will be in the Santa Clara cemetery. Services are under the direction of Heideman Hughes Mortuary, (435) 674-5000.
