Traci Friess Obituary

Traci (Brotherton) Friess journeyed to Heaven on Jan 19, 2017. She suffered a severe, unexpected heart episode that left her without oxygen to her brain. She passed peacefully surrounded with music, tears, lots of love and her family Thursday evening.

Traci was born May 1985 to Tim and Mary Brotherton in Cincinnati, OH. She grew up with her three brothers living life as an Air Force Officer's daughter. She lived in Cincinnati, Ohio for the first few years of her life before moving to Colorado Springs where she lived on the Air Force Academy. She spent her school years in Alabama, Ohio and Colorado. She graduated from Pine Creek High School in 2003. She then graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Education. She has been a wonderful, much loved English teacher at Vista Ridge High School in Colorado Springs, Wheatland High School in Wyoming and most recently South High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Traci met the love of her life, Matt Friess while teaching in Wyoming. They were married in September 2015 and just enjoyed a belated honeymoon over Christmas in Mexico.

Traci's legacy will live on in the many lives she has touched. She was constantly making a difference in all the lives around her. We will miss her joyous laughter and sarcastic sense of humor. She is survived by her husband Matt Friess, parents Mary and Tim Brotherton, brothers TJ, Chad and Sean Brotherton, Missy (Weltz) Brotherton, nephews Kody and Russell Brotherton, grandmother Connie King and her beloved dog Lola. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Ruth and Frank Brotherton, grandfather Mack King and niece and nephew Hope and Cash Brotherton. She was blessed to have numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, that will all surely miss her. The world has lost an intelligent, compassionate, fun loving young woman who lived and loved life to the fullest, but Heaven has gained a special angel in its choir. Please remember Traci's favorite quote. "Be kind to everyone you meet, for everyone is fighting a battle."

A memorial service will be held Sat Jan 28th at 11 am at the Timberline Church, South Auditorium in Fort Collins Colorado (2908 S. Timberline Rd, Fort Collins, CO 80525)

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or to the Traci Friess Scholarship Fund at South High School, Cheyenne Wyoming.

To Matt and to Traci's family:
We were very saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Traci. It seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating Traci and Matt's wedding in Colorado. To Matt, we know how much you and Traci loved each other and liked each other as great friends, and we are thinking of you during this time of loss. And to Traci's family, you have lost a beautiful and fun-loving daughter, sister, niece, and granddaughter, and our thoughts are with all of you.

Very very sorry to read this. The loss of life for this God centered family seems to be more than they should experience. May Traci rest in peace and may the family find peace and comfort in Christ.
