All,
My family and I cannot thank you enough for your kind words of appreciation for our Beloved Travis.
As you know, we miss him terribly!. Words cannot express the pain we are feeling for our loss. Yes, we know he is pain free and with God; that goes without saying. We not only know, but truly believe that in our soul and in our hearts because we DO know God is REAL and does not make mistakes. But, this pain that I his Mother and family are feeling at this very moment is very real also.
Travis and I had a very close connection. This was not your TYPICAL teenager! My soul IS happy because Mr. Travis and I talked about almost everything before he got sick and after. Well, only what he thought was RESPECTFUL to me.:) There were a lot of ,"I Love You Mom's",before and after he was sick, and "I'm Sorry Mom". He loved his family. Especially his little sister Brooke.
We laughed A LOT!!!! Those that came to visit almost always heard some kind of "Ribbing" goin on between Frank and Travis, or Brooke and Travis, and I cannot exclude myself!
We miss him dearly, and thank you all for supporting us through this trying time.
We Love You All!

There are no words I can use to express how very sorry I am for your loss. I pray that some of these messages will bring you a little bit of comfort. I want to tell you how I first heard of Travis. About a year ago, my daughter came home and told me that she met this guy. She went on to tell me, "Mommy, he is different" and I asked her what she meant. She said "He is really special, he's not like the other boys. It's like he is a light in the dark" From then on, they were close friends. She talked to him about everything, especially boy problems. He was such a comfort to her and I knew that he could always make her feel better. You raised an amazing person. Thank you for giving my daughter such a special gift.

To the family and friends of Travis,
Our son attended school and played basketball with Travis during their freshman year. Our son was a new student at Widefield and Travis befriended him immediately. After reading other entries, it seems apparent to us that those gestures are a reflection of how he lived his life. Travis' friendship has been a life changing experience for Josh. We all need to appreciate everyday that we have with our family and friends. We extend our sincerest, deepest condolences for your family's loss. May God comfort you. Our family is praying for you all.

"Miss me, but let me go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free
Miss me a little - but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me - but let me go
For this is a journey that we must all take
And each must go alone
It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home
When you are lonely, and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me - but let me go"

The Pastor, officers and members of Quinn Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Frederick, Maryland extend our deepest sympathy to you and your family in the passing of Travis. At an early age, Travis accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour and was baptized at Quinn Chapel in 1998. Because of his faith in God, Travis is now in His presence.
As you reflect on your relationship with Travis and recall those things in his character that made him so special to you, we encourage you to rejoice in your memories, the special times that you shared and the legacy that he has left behind.
Although we as Christians sorrow when a loved one passes, we don’t sorrow as the world sorrows and those who have no hope. Our hope is in the LORD! We pray that you to find comfort in the scriptures which tell us that, for those who are saved, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
We shall continue to remember you in our prayers and comfort you. But, above all that we can do, we encourage you to look to the Lord Jesus Christ in the days ahead ---for He is and shall be the source of your strength.

Mrs. Diane, Brooke, Roland, Tabitha, and the family.
I am sorry for the loss of Travis. I prayed for him since day one and thought to myself he is strong. To see the family go through this is so hard. To see Tabitha torn up inside is hard. To know that Travis is a warrior, soldier, fighter, a friend, brother, and son, he made a difference. We went through chemo together, well not together but it was pretty close. We lost our hair, eyebrows, got sick, and a lot more to explain, you fought with your heart! To hear the good news was a blessing, but to hear the bad news it doesnt seem real. Your family is strong and i know its going to be hard but Travis is in peace now! He doesnt have any more pain.My prayers are with you Travis!

Diane,Frank, Roland,and Brooke,
Thank you so much for sharing Travis with us. He will forever be in ours and memories. I loved this poem and have shared it with others, including my family. It has brought tears, joy and comfort to us all. I pray that it does the same for you, your family and all of Travis' friends. If you need anything you know where to find.
Love,
Robin & Tyrik
To my dearest family and friends, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "Travis, I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My daughter Tanisha and Travis were friends. We sat down together last night watching MySpace videos of him, Nate, Isaac and some of their other friends. What a wonderful memory! He was such a funny, handsome and polite young man. I know he was an important part of her life, as well as many of the other teens at Widefield. He seemed to be well liked by all. I know he made an impression on me the 1st time I met him.
Words cannot express how utterly sorry we are for the loss of such a wonderful young man. I cannot imagine what you all are going through and have gone though with his diagnosis and untimely passing. If only there were words to help comfort you all in your time of sorrow.
May God bless you all and comfort you through this difficult time.

A warrior, that's what I called you because of your strength, your courage, your persistance, your willingness to fight the odds. But mainly because of the love in your heart. Thank you for showing us what it means to fight. I prayed that God would grant us a miracle and you would still be with us today, free of pain and suffering. Free to shoot that jump shot, free to give us that big smile that says it's going to be alright. I will miss you my warrior. You and your family were the best of the best through this journey. Like Joshua, like David against Goliath, you will always be rememberd as a warrior. I saw the pain in your eyes, I saw the suffering on your face. But i saw more, I saw the love you had for your family, and the love you had for our God. I know you knew Jesus as your personal Savior, so I have no doubt you are now safe in his arms. Rest well my warrior friend, take your rest.I will see you again. To Diane, Brook,Frank and Roland, and the family of Travis, May God bless and keep you, and make his face to shine upon you and give you peace.

Remember that your
loss is shared
by many friends who care
and that you're in our
thoughts and hearts
and in our every prayer
May you find the courage
to face tomorrow
in the love that surrounds
you today.
May the love of friends and family
be a source of comfort
At this time of sorrow
may these truths sustain you..
...Travis will always be
as close as a memory
and the God of all comfort
is always as close as a prayer.
It will be the little things
that you will remember,
the quiet moments, the smiles,
the laughter.
And although it may
be hard right now,
it will be the memory
of these little things
that help to push away the pain
and bring the smiles back again.
With love, from my cell and me.

Travis was one of the greatest people I ever knew;
His mind was funny, yet his heart was true.
His passing has affected everyone around;
But he rests in peace, in heaven, he's sound.

May the wings of faith uphold you
When your cross is hard to bear,
As temptations surround you,
And no one seems to care.
May the wings of faith surround you
And shield you from the pain
When sorrows overcome you
And teardrops fall like rain.
May you know that God is with you
In times of deep despair.
May the spirit, who's within you,
Confirm that He is there!
May the valley of the shadow
Provide angels unaware...
May the wings of faith uphold you
When your cross is hard to bear.

Travis: I remember him from basketball season his freshman year. I was a senior when he was a freshman. And ever since I met him he was like a breath of fresh air; very positive and funny and easy to talk to. He had an aura about him and was very pleasant to be around. A beautiful soul has now found his place with God. You will be missed greatly.
With love and blessings,

R.I.P Travis, you will be missed terribly. You were like my Big Brother an there will always be a special place in my heart for you. You are the strongest and most courageous person I know and its going to be hard getting though the days not being able to call you when I need help with relationship problems or whenever we want to go up to French and play basketball. I guess god needed an angel but I think he took you too soon. At least there is no more pain and now and you can play ball with the angels. R.I.P Travis WE LOVE & MISS YOU!

Travis' legacy will live much longer than his short 17 years. His smile transcends generations and his Emmanuel Church family will miss him. We find comfort knowing that he knew his saviour and is resting comfortably in His arms! Peace & God's Power!

Travis was very funny and intelligent. I've respected and admired him since grade school. Although I wasn't that close to him, Travis was a part of my childhood and will always be in my prayers and my heart. He's with God now, maybe playing basketball with everyone in Heaven and having fun. I'll miss you, Travis!
