Wilbur Beegles Obituary

Wilbur was the eldest born to Clarence and Bessie Beegles in La Junta, Co. He grew up during the Depression years along with one sister and two brothers and joined the US Navy prior to the end of the War by graduating early.

After three years in the Pacific, he discharged and used the GIBill to attend college at Otero JC and then DU business school, becoming the first family member to graduate with a college degree.

He met a local girl, Lela, in La Junta and they were married on Thanksgiving 1950. Wilbur was employed by JCPenney Co. and they moved to Colorado Springs to raise three children, Ken, Greg, and Janet. He worked in management at Penneys at the Citadel. They were active in their church and loved to camp and travel. They became grandparents to 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Lela passed away in 2005 and Wilbur continued to live at home and died peacefully June 1, age 89+.

The funeral service is scheduled at 11AM (visitation 10AM) Monday, June 5 at Immanuel Lutheran, 846 Pikes Peak Ave.
