Aaron Kyle Herrington, 38, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. He was a resident of Wellington, Colorado and was a much-loved husband, son, brother, uncle and law enforcement officer. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, his law enforcement brothers and sisters, and the greater northern Colorado community that he served. Aaron was a police officer in Ault and a member of the Weld County Regional SWAT Team for more than 10 years. Aaron was born in Gunnison, CO and continued to leave his mark in every place he lived from Security/Widefield where he played football and wrestled for Widefield High School, to Gunnison where he played football as center for Western State and graduated with a Business Degree, to Colorado Springs where he graduated from the Police Academy. Aaron went on to leave his mark serving the communities in law enforcement across Colorado from Buena Vista, to Walden, to Ault and Weld County. In an ultimate act of giving, he was an organ donor and 4 separate individuals received Aaron's lifesaving gift. Other than spending time with his wife, Harmony, and their two dogs, Aaron's passion was also his career and much of his time was spent in activities associated with law enforcement including serving as a Krav Maga instructor. Aaron also enjoyed hunting, fly-fishing, lifting heavy weights, watching his favorite movies and quoting them, too. Aaron was preceded in death by his grandparents and his beloved police dog, Juno. He is survived by his wife, Harmony; his parents, Hal and Debbie Herrington of Colorado Springs, CO; his sister, Haleigh (Herrington) Kvols of Colorado Springs, CO and her husband, Jason, and their children Beaux and Emmerson; and his brother, Zach Herrington of Castle Rock, CO and his wife, Christy and their children, Makenna, Wyatt and Fischer. A public memorial service will start promptly at 12:30 PM on Saturday, April 24th at the Highland High School gymnasium in Ault. Doors will open at 11:00 AM. Invited guests, which includes an open invitation to all first responders, will gather for an outdoor celebration of Aaron's life at the Ault Fire Station.
