Andrew Farley, aged 68, passed away on April 2, 2024, in his residence in Atlanta, Georgia after losing his second battle with cancer. Andy chose to spend his final months in Home Hospice surrounded by the reassuring warmth of family, friends, and his beloved rescue dog, Riley.
Andy was born on August 6, 1955, in Carthage, New York, to Richard and Mary Eleanor Farley. He was the second of five rambunctious boys. At a young age, his family moved from upstate New York to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Andy and his brothers enjoyed a wonderful life in Colorado participating in summer and winter sports. In addition to sports, Andy developed a talent for playing the piano early in life and he continued playing the piano into adulthood.
Andy graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School and in 1978 received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado. In college, Andy developed a deep interest in the French language, which he pursued by spending a semester abroad. This passion for speaking French continued into his adult life, as he took advanced French classes. Higher education beckoned after graduation and in 1980 he earned an MBA from the prestigious Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Andy had a successful 25-year career in the entertainment industry, where he specialized in developing film and television channels across the globe. He began his career at American Movie Classics (AMC) as a Western Regional Manager and then moved on to Bravo Cable Network, where he became a Senior Vice President. Later, he worked as a Senior VP and General Manager at Rainbow Media Holdings.
In 1997, Andy co-founded Creative Networks International, an Italian television channel that became hugely successful and won multiple awards. The channel had offices in both the US and Italy. Throughout his career, Andy had the opportunity to travel the world and meet new people. When Andy and his business partner sold the company, they had built together, Andy decided to retire…at least from the business world.
After retiring, Andy pursued his passion for teaching by obtaining a Global Tesol Teaching Certification. He loved to teach English as a second language and found great joy in helping his students learn and improve their language skills, which helped them achieve their personal and career goals.
Andy met Diana Grudichak in 1988 and they were married on June 22, 1991. They lived in Chicago Illinois and Long Island, New York before eventually settling in Atlanta, Georgia. They enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, attending tennis tournaments, visiting museums, attending the symphony, cooking gourmet meals, playing the piano and raising a variety of pets togethers. Andy had a soft spot for animals, and he rescued many dogs throughout his life.
Andy was a kind, witty, loving, and generous husband, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Diana Farley of Atlanta, GA, his beloved dog, Riley, and four brothers: Richard Farley of Colorado Springs, CO, Matthew Farley and Astrid Osorno of Medellin, Columbia, James and Diane Farley of Helotes, TX, and Sean Farley and Clara Santos of Medellin, Columbia. In addition, he is survived by his niece, Shea Farley, and nephews Blake Farley, Ian Farley, and Alec Farley.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to the World Central Kitchen (www.wck.org) in Andy's name.
