Ardice Meeske Obituary

Meeske
Ardice Dorothy
(Hass) Meeske
September 17, 1932
October 1, 2024

Ardice Dorothy Meeske was born on September 17, 1932, to Herman Jr and Emma (Deets) Hass in Wisner, NE, and passed away October 1, 2024, in Colorado Springs, CO. Ardice was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Gladys Daberkow and Ottlin Hass. She is survived by her children, Kurt (Ekaterina) Meeske, Cynthia (John) Dye, Gregory Doc Meeske; four grandchildren, Andrew (Jodi) Dye; Taylor Meeske, Hannah (Toby) Gordon, and Daniel Meeske; three great grandchildren, Quinn Dye; Charlotte Dye; and Sterling Gordon; daughter-in-law, Tammy Meeske; sister-in-law, Vondell Hass; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ardice spent her early life on the family farm in Wisner, NE. After graduating from Wisner High School, her first job was secretary to the president at Citizen's State Bank in Wisner, NE. She married Donald Dean Meeske in 1951 in Wisner, NE. They moved to Wayne, NE, and continued farming together. In 1959, they moved to Colorado Springs, CO. Ardice and Don owned and operated Save-A-Day Laundry and Cleaners from 1960 to 1978. In 1979, she became a District Representative as a financial consultant for the Aid Association for Lutherans. She faithfully served Lutherans and the community with AAL for over twenty years. Helping others was a passion; she served on many committees with the church and the Board of the Immanuel Lutheran School Foundation.
Ardice cherished the lifelong friendships and stories through the family's involvement with the Pikes Peak Range Rider family and the Colorado Springs Roping Club. She served as secretary of CSRC from 1975-1979 while providing timing and bookkeeping for the jackpot ropings. Many team ropers throughout Colorado knew Ardice. Ardice and Don were a team; seldom does one get mentioned without the other. Ardice put up with many, uncomfortable, yet usually adventurous trips to jackpots and rodeos with Don and her son Doc, and later on to watch her grandkids rodeo. All she ever asked for was a "rodeo" hot dog and a salted nut roll.
She enjoyed telling stories about her heritage, especially about the wagon in her backyard that her father, Herman Hass, bought after his marriage to Emma Deets in 1930. Her husband Don renovated it into a chuck wagon for patio barbeques with family and friends.
Ardice cared deeply about her family and daily showed her love through her actions. Her generosity was genuine and her support was invaluable. Her faith in the Lord started at a young age inspiring others and her strong faith carried her to be with her Lord Savior in the end. Ardice was a wise, caring woman who will forever be in our hearts.
A funeral service will be held on October 14, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 846 E Pikes Peak Ave, Colo Spgs, CO. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m., the service begins at 11:00 a.m. and is followed by the burial at Evergreen Cemetery. A lunch reception will be held in the Immanuel gym after the burial. Cowboy attire is welcomed.
