Audra Brown Obituary

In loving memory of Audra Teresa Brown, who began her life with the Lord on August 10, 2010 surrounded by family after a two and a half year battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Born, lived, and passed in Colorado Springs, Colorado as a mother, wife, sister, and daughter, and above all a beautiful, true friend to all. Audra graduated from Falcon High where she did cheerleading, volleyball, track, Student Council and much more; attended Denver Tech with a Sports Medicine degree. Worked with her mom at Salon January as an esthetician and nail tech. Audra attended school to be a nurse for a semester after her first remission while working for Memorial Hospital. Loved by all, we all agree that she was one of the kindest angels on this Earth. Audra loved any type of game night with her family and friends, especially Dominoes, Bunco, and Bingo. She always knew how to put a smile on your face. Mom would love all her friends to join her family in celebrating her life and journey. Mom was devoted to her children most of all: Nicolette (19), Alexander (18), and Juliette (10). In this life, she leaves her husband of 20 years Ralph H. Brown II; parents Gary and January Hinkle; sisters Tammy Hinkle of Wichita, KS and Sherry (Scott) Carlson of Aurora, CO; and a host of family and dear friends. Please join us in celebrating her life at Rocky Mountain Calvary, 4285 North Academy Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Tuesday, August 17 at 11 am with a reception to follow. A viewing will also be held at Cappadona Funeral Home, 120 Fillmore Street, Colorado Springs, from 4-7 pm on Monday, August 16. Grave side service will be held at Evergreen Cementary.

I met Audra when we worked together at Red Top (before her and Ralph were married). She was always so helpful and sweet! She had a smile that could light up the room! I had seen Ralph over the years but hadn't seen Audra until a few months ago while she was still working at Memorial. I was so inspired to see her still working, oxygen and all. Even in spite of her illness she was still has happy-go-lucky as always! I know Ralph and her kids were her whole world! Audra will be missed by all who knew her!

To the family, you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Iwill have memories of sleepovers, talking about boys, what we were going "to be" wen we grow up. thru the years Idont think I ever saw Audra mad or say a unkind word. Ok well mabey with her little sister (Sherry).Sherry did get her at times, but that was her job. I got to graduate with Audra. We kept in touch after school . August 17, 2010

I can shed tears that she's gone,
But I will smile because she has lived.

I can close my eyes and pray that she'll come back,
But I will open my eyes and see all she's left

My heart can be empty because I can't see her,
But I am full of the love she shared.

I can turn my back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
But I will be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

I can remember her only that she is gone,
But I will cherish her memory and let it live on.

I can cry and close my mind, be empty and turn my back,
But I'm going to do what she'd want:

Smile, open my eyes, love and go on.

My little sister will live in my heart and I will cherish the day we will be together again in Heaven.

We met Audra and her family through my brother, during our visits from Virginia. The first year we came she hosted a great spaghetti dinner to meet and get to know us, we all enjoyed ourselves and told some funny stories about my brother when he was little, she laughed and laughed. I knew after my first visit that she was the most genuine and kind person I had met in a long time. It is rare to come across such a person, but she was truly a shining star. When we came to visit in April of this year, we were so happy to be able to see her again and spend time. Even though she was sick, she took the time to come see us and visit. In the short amount of time that we were lucky enough to know Audra, we could see that she was a delightful and kind soul, such a joy to be around. Words could never express the sadness we feel for all of you, we just know that her spirit will shine through to help you all along the way, and she will watch over you from heaven. Rest well Friend, The Gousse Family, Evelyn, Ednamae, Mandy, and Cheyanne. Hampton, Virginia.

I met Audra and her family a couple of years ago when her son took my daughter to his Prom. The only thing that stood out to me were those warm eyes. Her family was very kind to my family when we drove to Colorado Springs for her son's Prom. We still talk about it today. God bless Audra and her family and I know she will be watching over them always

I knew Audra from High School. I was a military brat so I transferred to Falcon High School in my senior year. When school started, I didn’t know anyone and was a little lost. I had always been a quiet kid and never part of the “in” crowd. Audra immediately befriended me. I was amazed that this beautiful, smart, cheer leader wanted to be my friend.

Audra was one of those special souls you rarely meet in this life. She was kind, intelligent, and incredibly beautiful. She had a bubbly personality and was always fun to be around. Most high school kids in her position would be snobbish. Audra was never that way. She was friendly to everyone. She certainly made my senior year as the new kid much easier and I’ll never forget her for it.

Years ago I was going through some old belongings and came across a photo of Audra from her senior portrait. Audra had written me a message on the back. My husband saw the photo and of course wanted to know who this beautiful girl was. Her eyes were just amazing. I lost track of Audra after high school. I heard she had married a military man and moved out of state. I always assumed she lived elsewhere.

Today my husband came across Audra’s obituary. He remembered her from the photo he had seen and the times I would discuss my high school friends. He just called to let me know Audra had died of breast cancer. I don’t know what to say. Sometimes God takes his best angles home early. Audra’s life impacted more people than I’m sure she ever realized. I was lucky to have known Audra for that short period in my life, precisely when I needed her. I truly regret not tracking her down years ago.

Even though I only knew Audra for a short time on this Earth, she was one of a kind. I have never in my life met anyone with such radiant presence. I worked with Audra as she was battling this cancer and she blew me away with her optimism and smile. I wish I had a fraction of her strength and spirit. Audra, thank you for touching my life.
