Barbara Ann Giblin passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 8, 2025, in Colorado Springs, CO.
Barb was born September 2, 1943, in Billings, MT. She graduated from Billings Senior High and Montana State University, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She went on to pursue a career in elementary education. Barb married James Michael Giblin on December 26, 1966, in Laurel, MT and they moved to Seattle, WA for the early years of their marriage where their daughters Michelle and Amy were born. In 1971 they moved to Colorado Springs, which became their home.
In addition to teaching and spending time with family, Barb enjoyed time with friends, especially playing bridge. She was active in Bible studies, book club and volunteering at church and in the community over the years. After retirement Barb and Jim spent several winters in Arizona with good friends and Jim's brother Pat and sister-in-law Sylvia, as well as watching their grandchildren play sports. Barb had many friends, both lifelong as well as new acquaintances, who quickly became friends. She was compassionate and caring, and always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Barb also had a special fondness for animals, especially dogs, which brought her so much joy.
Despite many health issues for the last several years Barb was resilient and a fighter and determined to overcome the obstacles she faced. Her faith in God and regular reading of scripture helped her face trying times. Her numerous and cherished friends were by her side over the years with visits, phone calls and many cards. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff at MacKenzie Place and most recently at Morningstar Assisted Living at Mountain Shadows for their compassionate care and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gurine and Gunnar Haugen. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years James Michael Giblin, her daughters Michelle (Jeff) Simmons and Amy Giblin, her grandchildren Zoe and Jack, her brother Gordon (Bev) Haugen, her brother- in- law Pat (Sylvia) Giblin, four nieces and nephews, her cousin Jodie Wallschlaeger and family, as well numerous close friends.
The family feels blessed that she was truly happy and doing great during her last several weeks. Barb will be greatly missed by her family and cherished friends who knew and loved her but feel at peace knowing she is with the Lord.
A memorial service/celebration of life will take place Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11am at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4925 Farmingdale Drive, with a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barb's honor to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.

We were friends with Barb and Jim for many years.
Barb was a true friend, smart, good sense of humor, with a wonderful sense of
style.
Many wonderful times together were spent eating pizza and playing cards.
We enjoyed outdoor concerts with both Jim and Barb, too.
After moving from CO. several years ago, we tried to stay in touch.
However, life got in the way, but, our memories are there forever.
Blessings to the family and remember Bud and I cared deeply for your mom.

Jim, Michelle and Amy - I am sending my deepest sympathies and prayer to you in the loss of Barb. I first met Barb as my neighbor around 20 years ago. Her and Jim became a part of my life and the life of my kids and grandsons. Barb was always interested in what was happening in our lives and how she could help. Our friendship evolved over time and became phone calls to keep in touch. I am already missing Barb and our phone calls. You are all in my prayers in this difficult time.

So sorry Jim, about the passing of your wife, Barb. We were both CPA's with May birthdays with spouses who were both teachers with September birthdays. It was fun sharing a theater table with you and Barb up in Arvada several times. I will keep you in my prayers, Jimmy G.

Jim and daughters,
I am so sorry for your loss of Barb. Such a wonderful kind hearted woman and friend. I remember times at Village 7 swim club and Mt. Calvery Lutheran church with Barb and the girls. I hope to be able to come to her funeral.

Michelle and Amy, my deepest sympathy with the loss of your mom. She was one if the first ones I met when I walked into Divine Redeemer school my first day to teach in October of 1988. She became a friend then and we shared several wonderful years teaching together. I joined the evening bridge club a few years later and we spent so many happy, fun times together. I will always remember her fondly. God bless you and your dad. I know the heartache of dementia personally. Stay strong . He will be in my prayers.
