He was a life-time friend of my husband, Edwin A. Ricketts whom he joined the Marine Corp on the same day. Ed wanted to join the Navy, but Barry wanted the Marine Corp so they flipped a coin and Ed lost two out of three. Barry was always a friendly and fun person to be around. His friend Edwin passed away July 22, 2020 after a long battle with his health. I send my heart-felt sympathy to Barry's family. It was always a great time when we returned to Colorado Springs, to spend time with Barry and LeEtte.

On behalf of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment's veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia please accept our condolences. Chief Farris served proudly in Headquarters Troop of the 2nd Squadron in Vietnam in 1971 and 1972. An honorable and respected soldier it was our priviledge to have him in the ranks of the Legendary Blackhorse Regiment. Our loss is that of another brother down who we respectfully salute this day. We will continue to actively honor his memory at our gatherings and in our newsletter, Thunder Run. He will be listed on our Honor Roll of our honored daed. Personnally, I remember Barry well as one of the last troopers to leave Phu loi and stand down the regiment in March of 1972. We were together then on that final road march in the last few days of the meritorious service that the 11th Cav completed in Vietnam, I pray that Barry and our other troopers will be together again in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.
