Dad,
I miss you so much. Every day my heart aches to be able to pick up the phone and call you and just listen to your stories, hear you laugh and just feel close to you. I am lighting a candle as your spirit, soul and good humor will never burn out and always be in my heart. You taught us all to be hard working but never forget to stop and have fun. You showed us how to be responsible and plan for the future and we always came first. You made sure we were happy. We were raised in such a loving family and that is what continues to bond us and help us through our grieving. Until we are together again, all my love forever and ever, amen.

We have so many of great memories of Bernard and the family. Bernard's smile and twinkle in his eye could light up any room. He always had a funny joke or one liner that would generate instant laughs. I loved that about him.

I remember a trip that my brothers and dad took with Bernard about 15 years ago to Cedar Rapids Iowa to spend the weekend listening to steel guitar music. Bernard and dad loved good country music, real country music. That trip will always be a great memory for me. I loved watching Bernard and dad tell jokes and talk sports to each other. Reunions on the farm in Blooming Prairie bring back great memories as well. I know Bernard loved his family and you could tell how proud of them he was. Last but not least, I always loved Bernard's eyebrows.. He had some killer eyebrows!

Bernard left a lasting legacy through all of those that he touched. He raised 6 great kids and was a light for so many people. God Bless Bernard, and God Bless his family.

Dad, I miss you so much. There is something everyday that reminds me of you, your unique take on things. I cant see a speeding, late model car go by without wondering if the driver is racing to the bank to make a payment. I realize how much you taught me, how you showed us that hard work wouldnt hurt us, the value of a dollar and to always do the right thing. You raised us all in a loving family, something that you cant put a price on. Too many good memories to recount here. But to list a few, the fish fries in Florida when we were little, cartoons on a black and white tv under the foldout bed, little league baseball with you in the stands, your sky hook, meals of vanilla ice cream and grilled cheese sandwiches, nights at the bowling alley and the whole family country drives. I miss you but youre always with me. I love you.

Dearest Dadeo,
I light this candle to show how bright you shined for all of your family.
I miss you so much my heart aches every day.
I miss your smile, your jokes and since of humor, your crafty remarks that made me laugh,
I miss your knowledge of football stats, scores, players, and how you shared that information to everyone and it amazed them.
I miss playing pool with you and watching how you could beat anyone, but you were quick to give tips.
I miss how you loved your gluten free bread when it arrived in the mail.
I miss how your eyes would light up when you were going to eat something really good and you would lick your lips and smile.
I miss how you liked to be waited on from your family and you always appreciated it.
I miss holding your warm hands when we prayed and talked together.
I miss your hugs and kisses.
I miss seeing you with your suitcase on your lap doing bills or coloring your beautiful pictures.
I miss your messages inside cards you and mom sent to my family.
I miss seeing your eyes sparkle when your favorite music was playing.
I miss our rides in my car, you loved those rides and going anywhere and you were content on sitting and waiting for us until we were done shopping.
I miss you watching the birds outside your house.
I miss watching wheel of fortune and Jeopardy while eating dinner with you.
I miss your buzzer calling when you needed something I keep wanting it to ring.
There are so many other things I miss about you,
But most of all I love you forever and ever and you will be in my heart always, and I am so thankful you are safe and happy in heaven with Jesus and God our Father, and I look forward to being together again for eternity in heaven.

Your loving daughter, Jan

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
