Carolyn Frost Obituary

Carolyn Aldrich Frost passed away August 15 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on September 20, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to Dr. Robert Henry Aldrich of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and writer Rhoda Truax Aldrich of New York, New York. She was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts where she attended and graduated from the Cambridge School of Weston. Lynn moved to Colorado in 1948 to attend Colorado College, where her aunt, Carol Truax, was the Executive Director of the Fine Arts Department. She graduated from CC in 1952. In 1953 she married Hunter Swift Frost of Pleasantville, New York, and they lived in New York City until 1966. Lynn worked as a social worker at Woman's Hospital. In 1966 the family returned to Colorado where Lynn became Director of Social Work at the Emory John Brady Hospital and Hunter taught at Fountain Valley School. While living at Fountain Valley School, Lynn designed and made costumes for many of the school's theatrical productions. In 1982, Lynn and Hunter moved to Connecticut. Lynn became an active member of the Democratic Women of Westport and enjoyed time in New York visiting family and attending shows, opening, and parties. Lynn and Hunter traveled in the US and abroad and in 1989 they embarked on a three month trip around the world. She saw the world through a sharp eye for social justice and equality, and she approached life with a keen wit and a love for things fair and just. In 1992 Lynn and Hunter returned to Colorado Springs where they were active in the arts community. Hunter passed away in December, 2009, three months after celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary. Lynn will be remembered as a gracious and generous hostess, and as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Lynn is survived by her three children: Daniel, his wife Kathy and their daughters Sarah and Elizabeth; William; and Juliana and her son Kaleb Beavers. We worked together years ago.

I found Lynn to be a bright, caring and articulate person who treated others with dignity and respect.

She was devoted to her work and always seeking to know more.

I am sad to learn of her passing.

Prayers for Lynn and her loved ones.
