With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our treasured son, Christopher Syftestad Barber, who left us on March 3,2026. He was deeply loved by family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him during his 35 years with us.
Chris had an insatiable curiosity and a deep love of learning. His passion for science guided his success through his education at Colorado State University. He was devoted to research while also achieving honors in his degrees in Chemistry and Spanish. Chris's heartfelt enthusiasm for developing safe and meaningful pharmaceutical products propelled his successful career as a Quality and Validation Engineer.
He also enjoyed learning deeply about other cultures and connected through learning Spanish and Japanese. Chris pursued answers with joyful determination that inspired others and brought passion to every conversation. Chris's thoughtful challenge of the status quo led him to constantly devour books on all topics, from fantasy to science to philosophy. He was a one-of-a-kind bright mind.
Chris also enjoyed connection with movement and the outdoors. He was proud of the skills honed when younger white achleving his Eagle Scout and Karate black belt. Over the years, he sought peace in nature when walking his dog amongst beautiful trees by his home, playing Pokemon GO, and fly fishing. Chris found great happiness in the quiet company of his pets. He was a devoted animal lover, dedicated to his Husky-mix Freya and his cats Shy and Luna.
Amongst his other passions, he loved listening to and performing music. Music was truly a way in which he expressed himself, both as a gifted musician and listener. He found joy and purpose in playing his cello (Youth Symphony and Young Concert Artists) and attending the symphony and concerts at Red Rocks. His memory lives on in beloved songs that he shared over the years.
Christopher is survived by Douglas and Kristin Barber (parents), Kristina and Lezer Barber (siblings), Freya, Shy, and Luna (dear pets), and extended family. Though he Ied a private life, as his favorite philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said, "lnvisible threads are the strongest ties". As his family, we are deeply grateful to all those who supported and loved him over the years.
A cetebration gathering of Chris will be held on Saturday, April 11th at the Millhouse in Castle Rock. ln honor of Chris's love of libraries, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Boulder Library in Boulder, CO in his loving memory. https ://bouIder!ibraryfoundation-bIoom.kindful.com
