Melissa Conard Obituary

April 3, 2026

Melissa Kay Conard, 65, passed away peacefully at her home in Colorado Springs on April 3, 2026, surrounded by the comforting presence of her beloved dog and cat. She was born on February 23, 1961, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Gary Neal Conard and Ophelia "Cookie" Conard.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents; both sets of grandparents; her younger sister, Valerie Sue Grady; and her infant brother, Jeffrey Neal Conard.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Sherrie Fischer and husband Mark Fischer of Dodge City; her dear friend, Benney Brettingen of Colorado Springs; many nieces and nephews; two great-nephews; and her cherished "fur babies," Chloe the dog and Winnie the cat.
Melissa dedicated many years of her life to the Radisson Hotel in Colorado Springs, where she began as an assistant accountant and proudly advanced to assistant manager. Beyond her career, she was a creative spirit who found joy in crafting, restoring furniture, and enjoying good food. She had a deep love for animals and generously gave her time to volunteer whenever there was a need.
Affectionately known as "Missy" and "Mel," Melissa was a kind and giving friend and neighbor, always eager to help others, even though she sometimes found it difficult to accept help in return.
Visitation will be held on April 9 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., with family present from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on April 10 at First Christian Church in Dodge City.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to National Mill Dog Rescue (nmdr.org) in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel or First Christian Church.
