Those Who Wander Are Not Always Lost …



Christopher Mark Burnell, 66, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away suddenly.

The Pirate of the Rockies set sail on November 5, 2021, on a new adventure beyond the limits of this earth. While none of us will be able to join him on his latest adventure just yet, we are comforted by his memory and influence on our lives. Because of our rare opportunity to share in the life & adventures of Chris Burnell, even if through his unique storytelling and witty humor, we are all richer and wiser about our own lives and adventures. Chris brought great joy to those who knew him. His love of life and his quest for global adventures inspired all of us to challenge ourselves to take fun chances, roll a few dice, and experience the exhilaration that only comes from recognizing that life on earth is finite and thus should be lived to its fullest.



Chris's adventures began in Crowborough, England and The Skinners School for Boys in Royal Tunbridge Wells, United Kingdom where he established life-long friends and began his life's journey that led to a distinguished Royal Air Force career followed by series of global logistics projects. Ultimately, he docked in his beloved Colorado.



Chris was preceded by his parents John and Kathleen (Ward) Burnell. He is survived by his loving wife, Kristine (Randall) Burnell; loving son, Timothy Burnell; Brother, Tim; sister-in-law, Safiya Burnell and niece Laila Burnell plus numerous extended family members.



Chris leaves behind a pirate crew too lengthy to list in this brief acknowledgement. However, Chris relished time spent with family and friends. He never let a day pass that did not include thoughts and love for his large family especially his brother, son and partner, comforter, love of his life and wife, Kristine.



In honor of Chris's exceptional life and influence on all who knew him, a "Celebration of Life" Memorial Service will be held at 11am, Saturday June 11th, 2022, at the Swan – Law Funeral Directors – 501 North Cascade Avenue - Colorado Springs, CO 80926.



As a lover of domestic animals, Chris's wishes were to please consider a donation to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Colorado Springs Colorado.
