Darlene Klein Obituary

Darlene Klein, 68, of Colorado Springs, CO passed away January 30, 2016 as a result of a long battle with cancer. Her friends and family were by her side when she drifted peacefully.



Darlene was born April 3, 1947 in Bismarck, ND to father Leo Klein, who predeceased her and mother Kathryn (Kramer) Klein. She was a graduate of St. Bens High School in Strasburg, ND and the University of North Dakota with a degree in education. Upon graduation, she was an English teacher in both Minnesota and North Dakota. She was Executive Director of the Fargo YWCA and employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield ND. She later relocated to Colorado Springs, where she was employed in the finance and mortgage business until her recent retirement in fall of 2015 from One Point Funding.

She was delightful, intelligent, vibrant and witty. She had a love for the arts, read every book and newspaper she could get her hands on, no movie went unseen, restaurants were enjoyed with friends and family, and she respected others opinions and made hers known often.

Darlene is survived by her mother, Kathryn Klein, Strasburg, ND; her brothers Ron and Lee (Sharon), Bismarck, ND; brother Ken (Elaine), Hot Springs Village, AR; and many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.

Darlene's wishes were to be cremated. Her remains will be interred at the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Strasburg, ND at a later date.

The family would especially like to thank her many friends for their loving care and support throughout the years, as well as Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care for their constant, attentive care.
