Dean Varney Obituary

Dean Carl Varney, 53, passed away May 29, 2010 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Los Angeles, California on August 26, 1956 to Carl Edwin and Elizabeth (Merlino) Varney. His father preceded him in death. Dean has resided in Colorado Springs for over 50 years. Dean began playing golf at an early age. He was a caddy at The Broadmoor Hotel for 11 years. After graduating from Cheyenne Mountain High School in 1974, Dean attended and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1978. He was an Evans Golf Scholar. Dean's passions included golf and cars. He was very active in the automotive industry. Dean is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Merlino Varney; daughter, Katie Elisabeth Varney; step-son, Casey James Hendren; brother, Brian (Laura) Baldwin Varney; and sister, Amy (Jeff) Varney Underwood. Visitation will be Wednesday June 2, 2010 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday June 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., St. Paul Catholic Church, 9 El Pomar, Colorado Springs. Graveside service is Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.at Lakeside Cemetery, 1008 Elm Avenue, Canon City, Colorado.
