Donald Wilcox Obituary

Born on March 13, 1939 in Colorado Springs, CO, Don passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 36 years, Jeanne; daughter, DiAnne (Mike) of Santa Rosa, and son Doug. Don was a proud grandfather of 11 month old Andy. Survived by his mother, Ruby M. Wilcox of Colorado Springs; sister, Barbara A. Smith of Irving, TX; brother, Gary Wilcox of Scottsdale, AZ; brother-in-law, Chuck Arnold and sister-in-law, Sheryl Arnold of Fair Oaks, CA; nephews, Brian, Cord and Chad Smith, Sean and Grayson Wilcox, Greg Arnold; and nieces Kim and Jodi Arnold. Preceded in death by his father, Everett E. Wilcox. Don grew up in Colorado and graduated from Colorado State College in Greeley with degrees in history and education. He was recruited to teach in Sacramento at Las Palmas Junior High and then returned to Colorado Springs for one year to teach at Colorado Springs High School, his alma mater. Upon his return to Sacramento, Don taught American history and student government to many outstanding students at Foothill High School in North Highlands. He also served as student activities director for many of his 35 years at Foothill prior to retirement. At home, Don was a kind, devoted husband and father. A talented craftsman, he designed and built beautiful cabinets and toys. Don also loved camping and fishing with his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don Wilcox's name to Breathe California of Sacramento-Emigrant Trails, 909 12th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.

I am so sad to hear of Donalds passing . I have great memories of our growing up on Gunnison Street .
A bunch of cousins on this street .
May the Lord ease your heart and know he is in Great Hands now.
