Dora Ford Obituary

Dora L. Winegardner Ford, 80, of Hudson NC, formerly of Lima, died at 3:30 p.m. December 25, 2005 at Palliative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, NC. She was born August 28, 1925 in Lima to Lester C. and Nellie Albright Winegardner, who preceded her in death. On January 7, 1945, she married Raymond L. Ford, who died May 3, 1988. Mrs. Ford retired as a bookkeeper from the Gazette Telegraph, Colorado Springs, CO. She attended Mount Zion Baptist Church, Hudson NC. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Survivors include two sons: Roger L. (Toni)) Ford of Grand Junction CO; and Michael W. Ford of Albert, CO; a daughter, Peggy F. (Terry) Carpenter of Hudson, NC; a brother, George B. (Mary) Winegardner of Lima; three granddaughters: Wendy (Jason) Marrow, Nicki (Mark) Pritchard and Terra (Bryan) Beck; five great-grandchildren: Braden and twins: Ray and Billy Marrow and MacKenzie and Grayayn Pritchard; and several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Winegardner and two sisters: Alice Haney and Ellen Richardson. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor, Bryan Bucher will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Palliative Care & Hospice of Catawba Valley 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658. Condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
