Loved those Heyliger boys. Some of the best jokes and stories of all time when he and Don got together. Great hockey memories. Sincere condolences to the family.

For me it was always a pleasure to speak with Doug in person or via the phone after we both reached "retirement" age. Having worked for competing and then the same company for years, we had a close working relationship and I can say without hesitation...being around Doug made me and others just feel better, "younger" and have a great time whatever we were doing. We kept in contact when I left the company and I will miss him a lot and wish his family well, he will be missed by anyone that had an opportunity to interact with him.

Wow what a complete shock. Doug is truly the definition of a
"Great person". Doug and Donny kept everyone laughing. Story after story after our hockey games, told in the parking lots of different ice arenas, were the highlights of our Sunday evenings. Doug was the organizer of many a get together just to keep all in touch with the Boys.
It was important to him. I have a picture of one of these meetings on my desk and see Dougie everyday. On behalf of the Myers' family our deepest condolences to his sisters, who he truly loved, and to the whole Heyliger clan. He will be missed but not forgotten!

During the drudgery of self quarantine and "stay at home" orders, his humor and daily funny emails kept us entertained and laughing. He was a good man and we'll miss our old hockey buddy. I'm so sad to hear he's passed on.

Having been able to share a friendship with Doug for so many years was a gift. In addition to his kind heart, Dougs wry smile and quick wit, he had a keen sense of humor that would always keep you on your toes. Ill miss my ol hockey buddy. My sincere condolences go out to Dougs family and many friends.

I am so saddened to hear of Doug's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the Heyliger family at this difficult time. Doug had a great spirit, a great joke teller and loved getting together with the guys. He was the definition of Old Thyme Hockey. He and Donny are looking for another winger in Heaven. Rest in peace my old IceHole Centre. God Bless Doug and the Heyliger family and friends.

We were fortunate to get to know Doug as we lived next door to him for 5 or more years on Hercules. He was always a pleasant fellow, with a local history or hockey story to tell, a joke, or a kind word about nearly everybody.

Good man, one of the "old gang". He'll be welcomed into Heaven by Renny, Mark Hayes and Hunter (and many more I can't remember but these three are the amigos). Rest in peace Doug.
