I fondly recall Duane's enthusiasm for the Old Testament at ABSW. He was focusing on Jonah at that time and it was fun to see that he was still learning and growing in his scholarship. I'm sad to hear of his passing.

I regret that I have just learned of Duane's passing. It was my pleasure to spend time with Duane and Martha when they resided at the Ecole Biblique in Jerusalem a few years ago -- Duane served as a visiting professor for a semester and I was a volunteer there. Thereafter, I often followed his on-line forum and always appreciated Duane's commitment to godly, biblical justice for this troubled land. He will indeed be missed! My heart-felt condolences to Martha.

I send condolences. I've been on Duane's mailing list for years. I circulated his posts, and he circulated mine. I feel as tho I have lost an old friend.

I was blessed to know Duane via his Biblical work. His scholarship was formidable, but it was his generosity to students and his work among prison inmates that was truly humbling. His faith was real-life. I am very grateful to have known him. Requiescat in pace.

I also knew Duane through his web site. His sharing of information was always welcome and helpful. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

Duane was a good and encouraging friend and colleague in the70s and 80s when he taught at the American Baptist Seminary of the West and our New College Berkeley moved in next door as tenants in Johnston Hall. A fine scholar and colleague. RIP and thank you Lord for your servant Duane.

I knew Duane via an internet cancer support group and admired his courage. My deepest sympathy to Duane's family.
