Dear Aunt Geraldine and family:
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Uncle Freddie. It was always a coveted event when your family came to town. Uncle Freddie was a unique man with a commanding presence - and a great storyteller. Whether it was the story of Hank Slomanski teaching martial arts to Elvis, or falling into a floorboard during negotiations with the North Koreans in the dmz, or the more mischeivous tale about my mother actually having had 4 children until the monster downstairs devoured one for making too much noise, I will always remember the twinkle in his eye, his deep baritone, and his smile. I'll remember his love of the Cubs, and White Castles, and how he showed us around Colorado when we came out to visit. Even though he was my elder, he had a way of making me feel like I was a friend. I'm sorry he never got to see the Cubs win one, and I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm glad we all knew him.

For Fred's Family;
I treated Fred in the Dental Clinic at Peterson AFB in the 1980's and have always remembered what a wonderful person he was. It was such a pleasure see him in the clinic. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.
