I was sorry to hear of Major George Foreman's passing. I thought about him often. George was one of my primary electronics instructors at Pikes Peak Community College from 1980 through 1981. I remember how interested he was that the class grasped each electronics concept before he moved on to teach the next subject. After graduation, many of his students became successful industrial production technicians, laboratory research and development technicians and technical writers. Some even went on to become engineers and supervisors at such prestigious corporations as Hewlett Packard, Digital Equipment, Texas Instruments, etc. George would have been proud of his student's accomplishments! George demonstrated wisdom and foresight when he took pictures of our class. As going away gifts, he passed out copies to each student when we graduated. Now, the picture is priceless! Unfortunately, George himself was not in the pictures (which I regret) because he had to take the pictures... but that is a characteristic of a great military officer to be more interested and concerned about his people than himself.

I was very impressed with George's technical knowledge and previous work experience. If I recall correctly... I think he told me that he had also been a technical writer at one time. George was more than an instructor to me. He was my mentor greatly influencing the rest of my life. George and I had both been commissioned military officers and as a result, we shared a special comradery and enjoyed sharing military and war stories. George graceously invited me to his home to see his ham-radio equipment and witness his morse-code communication skills. That was my introduction to the exciting world of hobby radio communication. George would be proud to know that as a result of his influence, I became a ham radio enthusiast and am one to this very day,... though I'm admittedly not as good as George was.

Even though it has been 27 years since I last visited with Major George Foreman, he influenced me greatly! In my heart, I will always remember him and will miss him very much. I was so glad to read that George was a Christian; therefore, his friends and family can be comforted knowing that George is happy once again and very much loved by God for a job well done. I wish George's family much comfort and many, many fond memories until the glorious day when you can be together again... when all tears will be wiped away.

George will be missed by many. He was a great man and a great example of a loving husband, father, and friend. His love for Jesus was evident. Be comforted in knowing that he is now with his Savior and experiencing true peace.
