Gerald Flynn Obituary

Jerry Flynn, a lifelong resident of the Colorado Springs community, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at a local hospital after a battle with cancer. He was the Business Manager for Platte Floral for many years, and was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Gerald Lester Flynn was born on December 10, 1948 in Sterling, Colorado to the late Francis Michael and Marjorie Jeanne (Bryant) Flynn. He attended Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, sold periodicals for Monarch Magazines Company, and soon married. He was a partner with his wife in the small business accounting firm known as Accounting Professionals.

They sold this business to his brother, Michael, and Jerry went to work with him for a time. He then worked as the accounting manager for Intermountain Coach for a number of years. He worked for his dear friends, Mel and Diane Tolbert, at Platte Floral as their business manager until he could no longer work last January.

He loved to travel and spend time with his grandchildren. He traveled the world with his best friends and employers, Mel and Diane. His association with Platte Floral was his greatest joy.

He is survived by his son, Shawn Flynn of Arvada, Colorado; his daughter, Danielle Kianka of Colorado Springs; his brother, Frank Flynn of Colorado Springs; his brother, Bill (Cathy) Flynn of Shreveport, Louisiana; and his grandchildren, Miranda Osowicki, Ian Flynn and Aidan Flynn.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael.

Jerry had a gentle spirit, a quiet demeanor and a big heart.

He will be dearly missed.
