Gordon Woollard Obituary
Gordon Wilson Woollard Sr. of Hanover, Colorado was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday 25 March 2017. Affectionately called "Willy" by many, he was born 15 November 1937 in Romeo, Michigan to Fred and Ruth Woollard. Willy was married to Helga L. Woollard (Schuhmann) October 27, 1958 in Nurnberg, Germany; they were married 58 years.
Willy proudly served in the United States Army for over 23 years, retiring in 1979. He was a resident of the state of Colorado since 1969 and was part of the Hanover Community since 1986.
Willy enjoyed people! Whether showing little ones (who lovingly called him "Opa") around the homestead, helping neighbors of the Hanover Community or discussing faith to fishing with any and all, Willy made the time to brighten your day. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Willy loved being in the Rocky Mountains. Willy loved Country and Gospel music and enjoyed playing the guitar for Helga and their Lab, Gunner.
He is survived by his wife Helga; his 2 sons, Dr. Gordon Woollard Jr. and his wife Carolyn, Brian Woollard and fiancé Patty Bruce; and his granddaughters, Janine Noel and Amanda Woollard.
A memorial service celebrating Willy's life and friends is scheduled for Saturday, 3 June 2017 at Hanover Community Church at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Hanover Community Church Building Fund, 17480 South Peyton Hwy., Colorado Springs, CO 80928.

I loved seeing Mr. Woollard at Evans when he would come in. He was such a kind and gentle man, I'm so sorry to hear he is gone. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

I grew up down the street from the Woollards and our families knew each other very well. I remember spending Christmas together and neighborhood sleepovers as a young child. I even helped on building the house in Hanover.You had a intimidating stature about you, but always a very kind person. Mr Woollard! Thank you for some neat memories from my childhood.

I worked with Sgt. Woollard at the Dental Activity at Fort Carson in the late 70's. Gordon was such a gentle giant and a great mentor to the young people.
It breaks my heart to hear of his passing.
