Helen Switser peacefully entered into the presence of our Lord on June 25, 2014. Helen was born to Leroy and Agnes Modlin on March 27,1933 in Burr Oak, Ks. Helen along with sister Evelyn Marvin completed the family.
Helen graduated in 1951 from Fowler High School, she went on to attain her Associates Degree from Pueblo Junior College in 1953, from there Helen went on to UNC Greely where she attained her BA in 1953 and ended her schooling with her Master's in 1957 in Business Education. Helen begain her teaching career at Palmer High School from 1957 to 1965 where she moved to newly constucted Mitchell High School. Helen enjoyed many years at Mitchell becoming the department head in 1969 until her retirment in 1983. Helen then went on to PPCC to teach part-time night school up until 1990.
Helen was a member of First Baptist Church since 1960 where she served on many committes and active in several groups. Helen was married to Ronald Switser until his death in 2005.
Helen is survived by daughter Suzanne(Jeff) Lance, Grandchildren Amanda Lance and Justin(Samantha) Lance, GreatGrandson Haysyn Lance. Sister in law Mary Switser many nephews and nieces. Helen was proceeded by Ronald Switser, parents Roy and Agnes Modlin, in laws Ora and Pauline Switser, sister Evelyn Marvin, brother in laws and sister in law, Doyle Marvin, Milford & Joyce Switser, Warren Switser and nephew Phillip Switser.
Helen's going home celebration will be at First Baptist Church, Kiowa St. on July 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm. Memorials can be made in Helen's honor to First Baptist Church.

So very sorry for the loss of your mother. Cherished memories of her will surely be with you forever. And just think about how she touched and improved the lives of countless children during her many years of teaching. She definitely left this world a better place than she found it. Teachers such as Helen make an important impact on so many lives -- they should be regarded as a real heroes!
