Sharon Ann Massaro
May 2, 1941 – February 12, 2026
Sharon Ann Massaro, 84, went home to the Lord from Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 12, 2026. Sharon was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Foress Ball Lillie and Marion Rita Riley Lillie. She was the youngest of three siblings. Throughout her life, she was a devoted member of her church and a valued member of the community. Sharon married Norvin Barrows in 1958. In the summer of 1973, they packed up their belongings including six kids, a dog and a cat, and moved to Glenwood Springs, Colorado. After four years together in the high country, they divorced but remained friends.
In 1987, Sharon married Nick Massaro. Their combined children counted to ten, but thankfully, they were all grown up by then. Later, Sharon and Nick moved to Battlement Mesa for a few years then on to Grand Junction. Nick passed away in early 2016. In 2020, she moved to the MacKenzie Place assisted living complex in Colorado Springs.
Throughout her life, Sharon was a ray of sunshine, not only to her kids and all their friends, but to everyone in the community. She had a long career working mostly as a receptionist / office manager, and also as a medical transcriber, a ski lift operator at Ski Sunlight, and a dam operator at the Shoshone hydroelectric dam in Glenwood Canyon. Sharon was a long-term volunteer at the St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction as well as at the Grand Junction Library where she taught English as a second language. She loved to play golf and travel which she did with Nick after they retired.
Sharon is preceded in death by her second husband Nick Massaro and her brother Joseph Charles Lillie. She is survived by her sister, Jean Faulkner, her first husband Norvin Barrows, children: Liz (Steve) Bailey, Sam (Laura) Barrows, John (Bobbi) Barrows, Bob (Dawn Marie) Barrows, Joe (Janelle Carsten) Barrows, Becky (Eric) Gerritson, step children: Nick Massaro Jr., Mike (Ruth) Massaro, Tony (Sue Brown) Massaro, Chris (Cindy) Massaro, twenty-one grand-children, and twenty great grand-children.
Sharon will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt gratitude to the generous staff of the MacKenzie Place for the care, respect, and kindness they provided to Sharon. A rosary will be held at 1:00 pm with the funeral at 1:30 pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church located at 2318 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80907 on Saturday, February 28, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at the Corpus Christi Parish Hall immediately after the service. After cremation, the urn will be buried next to Nick Massaro at the Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nicholas Massaro Education Fund at https://nickmassaroeducationscholarship.org
