James Shafer Obituary

James Lee Shafer was born on October 26th 1955 in Durango, Colorado to Harold Eugene Shafer & Virginia Alice Browning. It is with great sorrow that we mourn the sudden passing of our loving Jimmy Lee. Although his life was cut short, he left a heart print on the lives and souls of hundreds of people. We are deeply pained to see him go, but feel comfort and joy knowing that he is with his Lord and Savior. Jim was a wonderful, caring man who spent much of his time trying to do good for others. He knew just how to love people and portray true Christian love. He had an extraordinarily big heart that he shared with everyone. He was a man that was devoted to living his life to the fullest, a man that did what he said and said what he believed. He rejoiced in making people feel good, be it through his infectious laugh, welcoming hug or firm handshake. If someone was feeling down, Jim was always the first person to make them crack a smile. He had a great sense of humor and never failed to lift people's spirits when he was around. Jim was the big kid in the family, never afraid to dive right into the fun. During joyous times and gatherings, he was the life of the party. Jim was a brilliant, talented man who was always ready to share his knowledge and gifts with everyone around him. Jim deeply moved a vast number of people through his music ministry. He was a powerfully, talented musician who used his gift to bring people closer to the Lord. He is survived by his wife Debi, daughter Katie (Joe), granddaughter Norah, sister Lynn, brother John, nieces and nephews Dylon, Craig, JR, Rhianna, Lydia, Davey, Misty, Josh, Jacob, Elizabeth, Joseph, John, Sarah, Ashley, Andrew, Brandy, Kelsey, Noah and Emma and great nieces and nephews Kira, Sydonia, Alexis, Jordan, Addisyn, Averi and Gracie, puppy dog Angel along with many Friends. Jim is preceded in death by his Mother and Father. He lived a life wrapped in the Love of Jesus. Jim would want us all to remember one thing: Know Jesus, live, walk, trust and rest in Him. Favorite Verse: John 3:16 The family will receive visitors, Thursday,September 10, 2009 from 5:00 PM-6:30PM, at Calvary Eastside Chapel,5070 Edison Avenue with a Memorial Service immediately following at 6:30PM.
