Jeffrey Meacham Obituary

Jeffrey Alexander Meacham, 15, of Black Forest died unexpectedly April 24th. Jeffrey was so loved by his family and friends and his loss will leave a hole in their hearts. In celebration of his short life, however, the family will remember his exuberance and intensity. He was a sophomore at Pine Creek High School and took many advanced computer and math classes where he excelled. He was enrolled at Pikes Peak Community College for summer classes to begin to fulfill his dream of earning an associate degree before graduating from high school. He had keen curiosity and intellect. He regaled his friends and family with imaginative stories. He loved tennis, snowboarding, and recently learned to water ski. Jeffrey also spent time in Ephrata, Washington with his mother and stepfather where he had another network of friends who loved him. Jeffrey was active in the Mormon church and served in a leadership position in Black Forest Ward. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 510. Over the past five years, Jeffrey worked hard to earn his Eagle. His Eagle project is in the final planning stage and will be completed by his friends. Jeffrey is survived by his father, Jay Meacham (Karen), of Black Forest, his mother Janet Warren (Mike) of Ephrata, Washington, sisters Jenni Heaton (Spencer), Jodie Martinez (Max), Camryn Slocum, Anna Slocum and brothers Jon Meacham, James Meacham, and J. J. Slocum. He is also survived by two grandparents and many nieces and nephews. Jeffrey's funeral will be held on Monday, 4/30, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Black Forest, 6950 Shoup Road. A viewing will begin at 9 a.m. with services following at 10 a.m. Jeffrey will be interred at Eastonville Cemetery. Memorial information at www.dignitymemorial.com.

I was in seminar everyday with Jeff. He was one of the most amazing people I've ever met. He was so smart, caring and sweet. I was a junior last year when he was a sophomore and he used to help me with my homework almost every day. He was just an all around great guy. He is missed in our seminar. My condolences to your family.

Jeff,
I was expecting that you would become a great man someday. I was hoping and cheering you on in my head. I thought that you might make that medical pod to heal people and do surgery without major scaring. I thought that (no matter how crazy it seems) you would be able to take over Africa with the robotic army of yours that would be manufactured in Japan. I thought that you would be able to make cold-fusion. I thought a lot of things, Jeff, I hope…no…I KNOW that you believe in being a Mormon, in being LDS. I hope I can see you again someday, in one of the few kingdoms of heaven. I will still think of you as you were when I last saw you. I'm sorry I couldn't be around the last three weeks of your life, I will miss you, my BEST friend…
As for your parents, I don't know what to say. I wish I could have done something, but I wasn't there for a couple of weeks before his death. He was a great young-man, one who followed the scout law, who helped his friends, who was great in everything he did. I can't tell you what happens now, but we are all hoping and cheering for you. This is my first major loss, so I don't have much advice for you. Jeff and I were GREAT friends, and we still will be great friends, for all eternity. Jeff's looking down on us, and I hope he sees what he has caused. His patriarchal blessing said something referring to his grand-children. I will pray for Jeff, and I will pray for his family. Thanks Jeff for the great time we had together, thanks for the great conversation, thanks for everything… I just wish there was more I could have done for you. I'll miss you Jeff. We will all miss you.
Signed your friend

Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family over the loss of Jeffrey. As one of his youth leaders for so many years, I considered Jeffrey not only a boy of great intelligence and leadership skills but one who was generally interested in how those around him were doing. Unlike, many youth who would say Hi to me at church, he actually would take the time to talk a moment with me and ask how I was doing. He was a caring individual. When I taught Priesthood lessons in the Deacons Quorum, he often asked questions. He was a deep thinker and very interested in learning. We all loved Jeffrey very much!! -the Nelson Family (Ed, Joanne & Eric).

I am so sorry I just found this out, I would have been honored to pay my respects to your family. I always admired how Jenni helped with your pregnancy with Jeffrey, Janet, taking your blood pressure...you all are such a darling family, I will treasure my memories of holding Jeffrey (My Pancake baby) he was such a doll. Once Jeni told me a beautiful story about how Jeffrey enlightened everyone at his grandmothers funeral by saying how "cool" it was she wouldn't need her oxygen in heaven...I am thinking of all of you and am so sad with you
