Jenny Clark Obituary

Virginia Hill Roberts Clark died peacefully at home Friday March 24, 2017 just three days after her 83rd birthday.

It was her profound wish to pass quietly and without fanfare. That wish will go down as one of her rare failures. In her remarkable life Jenny left an indelible mark on virtually every person who crossed her path. It's a journey that cannot end without fanfare.

It began on March 21, 1934 in Charleston, West Virginia where she was born to Roy Pierce and Golda Gem Denning Roberts. It may have been a dark and stormy night; she would have loved the visual. In the second grade at Milton Elementary she met the boy who would become her life partner and with whom she would share an adventure that lasted two thirds of a century. On a high school date a few years later she informed Wesley that she intended to "do things her way" and he'd better get used to it. The next 70 years would prove she did and he didn't.

Marrying into an Air Force career can put the strongest relationship to the test. Jenny not only passed the test but also rewrote it, marshaling her growing family on its many moves from one end of the country to the other, from the Deep South to the Pacific Northwest. Along the way she somehow managed to become an accomplished artist, seamstress and professional tax accountant.

Jenny rose in the Air Force ranks next to her husband, eventually taking on the demanding role of "General's Wife", which she mastered with her signature humor, efficiency and Southern charm.

In her's and Wes's co-retirement Jenny continued to nurture strong friendships and dote on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Jenny's final wish, as mentioned, was to pass quietly and without fanfare. So there will be no official memorial. Her family, though, would like you to take a private moment and celebrate her remarkable life in your own way. She'll never find out.

In the meantime she will wait patiently for the love of her life to join her at the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery.

Jenny is survived by her husband Maj. Gen. G. Wesley Clark USAF (ret), daughters Catharine Clark-Sayles of San Rafael, CA and Rebecca Clark of Fairfax, VA and son Stephen Clark of Detroit, MI, daughter-in-law Larenne Faithfull Clark, granddaughters Sophie and Hillary, great granddaughter Scarlet and sister Nancy Pfefferle.

In lieu of flowers Jenny would like you to consider making a donation to her great granddaughter's foundation www.scarletssmile.com.

She sounds like a strong role model. Iosing your mother is one of the hardest stages of your life.you will think of her often and she will be in your heart forever. I like to think that they never give up their role as a mom and go on to become a guardian angel, always watching over you. My deepest condolences to the whole family.
