Lewis Stamm Obituary

Lewis Edward Stamm aka "Lucky" passed away peacefully, December 9, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada from complications following an outpatient procedure.

He was born September 19, 1947 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Lewis was a former resident of Manitou Springs, Colorado where he attended Manitou Springs schools and graduated with the class of 1965. This is where Lewis met Carolyn, became high school sweethearts, and later happily married on November 19, 1965. Lewis and Carolyn moved to Ketchikan, Alaska in 1972 where Lewis was hired as a Millwright for Ketchikan Pulp Mill. When not working, he loved to fish and enjoyed the outdoors with his family. He also loved to mine for gold in California and Arizona.

When the Ketchikan Pulp Mill closed, Lewis pursued his love for fishing and began operations of Lucky Strike Charters. He ran the charter company for many years and provided Alaskan fishing trips for guests from all over the world. His favorite fishing memory was the King Salmon Derby of 1986 where he won with a 57.4 lb king salmon. Lewis was also a member of the Ketchikan Gun Club.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Marion, and brother Elwyn. He leaves behind his loving wife Carolyn, sons Robert (Sheila) and Luke (Maria) all from Ketchikan, sister Mary (Cliff) Wenger of Sacramento, CA, grandchildren Ariana (Nick) Sawyer, Marcus and Chris Lee, Trey and Mariah Colbert, great grandchildren Chloe and Molly Sawyer, niece Angela Schubert of Wilton, CA, and nephews Andrew Wenger, and Gerald, Aaron, and Hubert Stamm all of Colorado Springs.

A celebration of life is being planned in Ketchikan, Alaska during the summer of 2017.
