Lindsey Bedenk Obituary

Lindsey Priscilla Bedenk (Currie) died on March 31, 2016 in Charleston, South Carolina at the early age of 24. Lindsey was a fun loving, passionate person who lived a life full of love and adventure.

She was born on June 10, 1991 in Santiago, Chile and was raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She graduated from Air Academy High School in 2009.

Lindsey was always drawn to the outdoors, especially to the mountains of Colorado where she found peace and a special oneness with nature. This draw to nature led her to a lifelong passion for animals and to a career as a Veterinary Technician; she received her certification from PIMA Medical Institute in Colorado Springs in 2011. Over the next five years she worked in both veterinary offices and at emergency veterinary clinics first in Colorado Springs and later in Charleston, South Carolina.

In 2014, Lindsey met the love of her life, Melissa Bedenk. They were married on April 1, 2014 in Chicago, Illinois. Later that year they moved to Charleston, South Carolina where Melissa was assigned to the Navy's Nuclear Training Program and Lindsey continued her career as a Veterinary Technician. Lindsey's joy and love touched all whom she came in contact with. She will be dearly missed, but will remain in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her wife, Melissa Bedenk; her parents, Paul and Gayle Currie; her brother, Andrew Currie; her grandmother, Peg Currie and her numerous pets.

A candlelight vigil and launching of Chinese lantern balloons was held in Charleston on April 5, 2016 by her family and all of her South Carolina friends. A ceremony will be held here at Garden of the Gods for friends and family to celebrate her life. You can help celebrate her life by giving to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
