Louis Dwight Jensen (71) was born June 15, 1950 in Pueblo, CO to Harold and Virginia Jensen and was raised on a farm near Fowler, CO. Dwight attended Fowler schools, graduating as a salutatorian class of 1968. In high school he was active in Science Club, Band, Choir, National Honor Society and was the photographer for the year book. He then attended the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO where he received his degree in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering in 1972. Upon graduation, he went to work for Conoco in Oklahoma. In 1979 he returned to Colorado to be near his parents, brothers and family and began working with Colorado Interstate Gas. He was a pioneer in the in the development of the remote gas flow measurement and his expertise was known throughout the natural gas industry. His work took him to sites in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Wyoming. In 1979, he achieved the distinction of Professional Engineer. After retiring, he continued consulting work for numerous companies and also spent time with the Colorado Springs Utilities. Dwight fully retired 3 years ago.
Dwight was an active member of The Danish Brotherhood and Trinity Lutheran Church in Fowler. He had a number of interests and hobbies over the years. He had a passion for music as well and was involved with Song Spinners, Touch of Class, and Vocal Fusion. He had been very active in the Pikes Peak Rose Society, Cheyenne Mountain Garden Club, and Stephen's Ministry, He and Denny began RV traveling and have covered much of the continental United States. He also had a passion for family history. He was the family historian for both the Jensens and Greens (his mothers family) over the years, collecting history and pictures. H also enjoyed collecting antique glass and precision John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed flower arranging, including Japanese Ikebana style arranging. Maintaining family ties, family traditions and friendships were of utmost importance to Dwight.
Dwight is survived by Denny Husk, his lifelong companion of 27 years along with their miniature Schnauzer, Spencer. Denny's sons Aaron (Stacy) and children Lydia, Farrah, and Harrison of Edgewater, MD; Adam (Naomi) and children Barron, Abram, and Raiden of Billings, MT; brothers Richard (Linda) Fowler, CO; and children Greg (Chelsee) Jensen, Loveland, CO; Kris (Ben) McKay, Johnstown, CO; Cari (Craig) Smith, Hutchinson, KS. Scott (Nancy) Fowler, CO; and children Toby (Silas) Montoya, Pueblo West, CO; Wendy (Chris) Geringer, Ordway, CO. Frank (Angela) Loveland, CO and children Asta, Broomfield, CO; Erin (Donny) Hodgkinson, Cimarron, KS; Kyra (Peter) Meyer, Amers, IA; Brooke Jensen, Ft. Collins, CO. Great nieces and nephews, Gentry and Brier Jensen, Kody, Jillian and Carter McKay, Jett, Colt, Shaylen and Remy Smith, Jenasis, Sierra, Logan and Kenzie Montoya; Ashley, Brett, Brandon and Emilee Geringer.
Visitation will be held at Swan Law 501 N. Cascade Ave Colorado Springs, CO on Sunday, January 2 from 1:00 - 5:00. Funeral Service will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, 600 5th St., Fowler, CO on Monday, January 3 at 10:30. The service will be streamed, more information to follow. Lunch will be served following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage you to donate to the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Lutheran World Relief or
your favorite charity.
