Margaret Mag Obituary

Margaret Virginia Magi - world traveler, artist and church leader - died on February 19, 2016 in Washington, DC.

She was born Margaret Virginia Sharp on December 16, 1920 in Colorado Springs, CO to Florence Ralston and Lewis Sharp. After graduating from Cheyenne Mountain High School in 1939 she attended business college. She then joined Colorado Interstate Gas Company where she worked for the next 28 years rising to the position of Purchase Agent,

In 1968, while traveling abroad, she met fellow American, James Magi. He was a retired auditor for the Federal Housing Authority. In 1970 they married and spent years enjoying overseas travels until his death in 1979, She continued her passion for travel and would ultimately visit over 100 countries in her lifetime.

Photography was a hobby she enjoyed throughout her life. For her work she won numerous prizes. In the 1970's she became the staff photographer for "Welcome to Washington International", an organization that entertained the wives of visiting dignitaries.

She was a devoted member of Capitol Hill United Methodist Church in Washington, DC. She participated in numerous church activities including serving as Chair of the Trustees.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Sharp.

She is survived by nieces and nephews in the Colorado area and by her husband's nephews and offspring.

A memorial service was held at Capitol Hill United Methodist Church on April 2, 2016. Graveside services and internment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, CO on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.
