Marilyn Harris Obituary

Marilyn Harris
March 1, 1931
March 4, 2026

Marilyn C Harris passed away peacefully at the age of 95 in her home in Denver on March 4, 2026. She was born in Cockrum, MS on March 1, 1931. After college Marilyn moved to Dallas, TX and worked as a flight attendant where she met Coleman Harris who was stationed at an Air Force base in OK. They were married in 1954 in Dallas. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1965 with their two young children, Steve and Joan, and made Colorado Springs their home for over 50 years. Marilyn was a teacher at Mountain View Elementary School, District 20 for over 20 years and touched many lives. Marilyn loved skiing, hiking, cooking and reading. She attended the Tri-Lakes United Methodist Church, was involved in the Gleneagle Women's Club and the Copper Mountain Over the Hill Ski Gang. More than anything, Marilyn loved her family and being Gramma. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who loved her family and friends with a warmth and kindness that served as a bright light for all who knew her. Marilyn is survived by her children, Steve Harris (Marcia) of Superior, CO and Joan Harris of Denver, CO; grandchildren Nicole Still (Nathan), Michael Harris (Carol), Sam Cole, Daniel Cole and Jonah Cole. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Coleman Harris. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 27 at 11am in the Fellowship Hall at 2999 South Colorado Blvd in Denver. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Children's Literacy Center in Colorado Springs.
